So I finally proposed to my girlfriend of 4 1/2 years. Of course she said yes (if she said no I was going to throw her ass in Lake Michigan, we are from Florida so she'd freeze real fast).

I wanted to make it really memorable and special, which I think I did. She cried, so thats always a good thing!

In any case, now its time to plan a wedding and honeymoon! Woot. So, to those who have been married, how long does it take to plan the wedding?

Also, for the honeymoon, where to go? We are thinking most def. somewhere out of the country. Throwing around some ideas, Greece is leading the way. Switzerland and Australia are up there as well. We are activity based people, rather than just history based. So somewhere with a lot of fun activities would be a plus. Whatcha guys think?

Pics will come when this thread gives good advice... and when I load them from our trip.

After that you have to tell us the circumstances.

I'm a wedding photographer. I've seen people plan for a year and I've seen stuff thrown together in a few weeks.

Well being that we live in Tampa I figured I'd wait till we went somewhere different. We were up in Chicago visiting my sister. So the third night there I took her down Michigan Avenue just to do some shopping/sight seeing. At one end of the street was The Drake hotel. Toward the end of the afternoon we were down there. I took her to a really nice gazebo right across the street from Lake Michigan. It was really quiet there so I sat her down and proposed there. Right afterwards I took her across the street to The Drake. I had my sister take our luggage there while we were out during the day, so all of stuff was already there. I went to get a card for our room and it turns out we got an upgrade on the room. Executive suite baby! It was the room I originally wanted, but for $1300 a night I decided I couldn't afford it. Things worked out really nicely though. Took her up to the room, she was totally caught off guard. I had rose petals sprinkled from the doorway to the bed and pink tulips (her favorite flower) on the table. When she walked in she started crying. I knew then I had done a good job. So we went into the room, which had an amazing view of Lake Michigan and a pretty good view of the city too. I had her dress there and we got dressed up and went to dinner inside the hotel at the Drake Brothers restaurant. Came back after dinner and enjoyed each others company in the jacuzzi with some bubble bath stuff we bought earlier that day. Overall if was a very memorable experience in a magnificent hotel.

I decided on that hotel because it has so much history etc... I figured it'd be a place that was there for a long time to come that we could remember forever.

Bed

We are thinking most def. somewhere out of the country.

Different bed?

Throwing around some ideas, Greece is leading the way.

Doesn't grease always lead the way in bed?.

Switzerland and Australia are up there as well.

Go up and then down under...in bed!

We are activity based people, rather than just history based.

More activity, fewer history questions are good things in bed.

So somewhere with a lot of fun activities would be a plus.

Bed again!

Whatcha guys think?

Um, bed?

Edit: Oh, yeah, congratulations!

Nice. Now all we need is pics of the GF before we can make recommendations.
