Must be around #15-20 or else he would have said Top 14 :p

So by top 20 I assume you mean second tier since you didn't get into the big 14?

Tier 1 extends beyond the top 14. The T14 are in a special mythical category....

Top firms recruit exclusively at the top 14. If your goal is to join a top firm, then you just made your goal that much harder to achieve.

If by "top firms" you mean "Cravath, Swaine and Moore LLP" then maybe you are correct. If by top firm you mean almost any of firms 5-100, you are clearly misinformed.

I know someone from the ~60th ranked law school who is starting at the top firm in LA this year (full time associate). Top LA firm is OMM LLP (ranked 19 nationally).

Latham and Watkins is the top LA firm. O'Melveny is a close second.

If you consider a 19th ranked firm a top firm, then it explains why you feel so proud in getting into a tier 2 school.

I stand corrected.

hm... considering there are 1000s of law firms in the US alone, I think #19 is pretty damn good. I'd call it "top." If you would like to explain why I am wrong for thinking that way, please do so.

I suppose you are one of those people who is only happy if he can hand out his business card at a bar and tell people he works at a top 5 firm? Just for the record, that's not how I define happiness.

I hope you define happiness by 100 hour weeks and OCD behavior, because that's what you have to look forward to working for big law.

Well, I will graduate without debt, so big law isn't necessarily my goal.

What ignorance. Even firms like Cravath recruit at BC, Cardozo, Fordham, etc.
