When are you going? I'm moving to Bangkok next week so by the time you go I might have some good advice for you.

Second half of September.

Cheers,
Aquaman

Should know the city pretty good by then. PM me closer to September and I'll be happy to help you out.

Cool......... are you working or studying in Bangkok?

Cheers,
Aquaman

Study.. I'll be a few miles north in Patumthani but by September I'll definately have been around the city a great deal.

I live in Singapore. I'm in Shenzhen now and go to Hong Kong a fair bit (will be there on Friday, actually). I've also been to Thailand a bunch of times (pretty much the whole region). I just changed jobs and will be back in the SF area in a month or so.

Hard to say exactly what you should do in the places you visit. It really depends on what you want to do and what you enjoy. Thailand gives you the option of beaches or a city (Phuket/Krabi or Bangkok). Hong Kong and Singapore are cities.

The nightlife in all the cities is really good. If you like live cover bands, Dusk till Dawn in Wan Chai or Insomnia in LKF in Hong Kong are good and they have a branch in Singapore as well (Insomnia). That will be western music. If you want more local music, you'll have to ask a local.

In Singapore, for nightlife I would try St James Power Station or Clarke Quay. I only spent a couple of days in Bangkok and I had a friend to take me around (local Thai) and I don't really remember all the places we went to other than Q-Bar which seemed to be popular but was really crowded.

The food in all three cities is great, really up to you.

Just as a note on prostitution in SE Asia - really not that much forced children in the scene that I've noticed. The choice to do or not do is up to you. Ignore the "man card" comments and such. I can tell you that the vast majority of massage parlors and most hotel bars will have that as part of the menu. If it gets to you, I'll let you know my trick to easily chase them off. Ask them how much. Then tell them it is way too much and quote a really low price. "No" they don't really understand. Too cheap for them to bother with they will understand and they'll tell their co-"workers" and they'll leave you alone.
