on my lasik surgery, man, its about 28 hours in, holy cow, i see so well. Still adjusting and recovering but holy cow, best 5500 i paid.

Anyway, first night it felt like dirty contact lense, itchy and etc. I love it.. felt a little pressure while making the flap but that was it..

I'm considering having this done. I'm only 23, but I think it's worth it. Even if I still had to wear glasses it would be a huge improvement.

My sister and my uncle had it done, and both love it. My uncle: "I don't ever remember seeing this well in my life."

That's performed with a penlight laser.
I'd pay to ensure professionalism regarding my eyes.

When you're talking about someone zapping your eyes with a laser, one would think you'd be more concerned about the quality of the work than cost per eye. I, for one, am very glad that my eyesight is 20/20.

Are you saying that you would be a cheapskate when it comes to surgery on your eyes!?:Q

I dont know my prescriptions, but here it is off the contacts.

R: 8.6, 14.4 -6.00 / -1.25x170
L: 8.6 14.4 -6.00 / -1.25x180

I just turn 27, my vision has stabilized for about 4 years, same prescription, has not changed for a long time.

You really dont feel pain but for my wife, she's like 20/60. I'm going to recommended her to get the intralasik. Its double laser.

There was a little pressure when it was done but it was pretty good over all. They even offer me a little bear to hug..

I went with a more expensive doctor. My sister's doctor before charged 4500. Overall, Im sure you can go down to mexico to get them for 800.. heheh..

If you want cheap, GOOD Lasik, go to Canada. They've been doing the procedure a lot longer (esp. in Toronto) and do not have to pay royalties to the equipment manufacturers so it's very much cheaper.

Exactly. I'm far more concerned about getting 20/20 for life than I am about cost. The one thing that I do not want to have happen, regardless of how much or how little I pay for the procedure, is to have to wear correction AFTER I get Lasik.

forcesho, glad to hear that it worked out well for you. I dream of having 20/20 again someday...

the 8.6 is the base curve of the lense (i.e. the radius of the sphere the lens would make 8.6mm)
the 14.4 is the size of the lens (14.4mm diameter)
-6.00 is the perscription (which is pretty bad vision, mine are -3.75 and are considered strong)
the -1.25 is the correction made for an astigmatisim
the 170 and 180 is the angle that is corrected at.

EDIT: I could be very wrong, I'm just going by memory.

Last info I heard was that it was a only a weekend course on how to do it. I think it might actually be one of those "I'll charge more to make it seem like they are getting something special from me"

I'm a -6.5 in both eyes :( But with my contacts in i can see 20/10! I wish it wasnt so expensive, otherwise i'd get it done.
