YAY! I felt inspired to make a thread for all of those other ATOTers that are graduating from high school. My graduation ceremony is next Friday and that night is the Grad Night party. I am really looking forward to being done and being free to pursue education that is more directed towards my interests, like engineering and medicine. That and getting out and experiencing life on my own a bit. I'm all set, all tests and finals done I just get to sit through 4 days of year book signing, early morning graduation practice then wait for my name to be called.

Anyone else around here graduating soon?

Edit: Some of you guys are real buzz killers but you do bring up good points. I'm not saying freedom as in freedom from responsibility or anything, I'm looking forward to responsibility that will be more full filling/purposeful. A few of you brought up providing for a wife/kids and bills and so forth, I'd much rather be busting my ass for those things rather than AP Government. High school is really fun in some ways especially if you have a great group of friends, but I don't need to be in high school to enjoy my friendships. Also looking forward to meeting new people in college.

Adulthood is the absence of freedom.

be ready for starting 2 years of college taking general ed courses that are just as boring as the high school general ed courses.

True that...but college was really cool for me because I met other people who cared about archaeology just as much as I did...It's awesome...Don't live at home, however...

I graduated in April. To be honest I'm more restricted now in college than I was in highschool.

It's a sad reality that all adults realize.

I couldn't wait to be out of school and start my "real life". Now I wish I had the minimal responsibility that I did in school.

Now I have a job that makes school look like a vacation, a wife to provide for, a roof over my head to pay for, etc...

Not saying all this to be negative, just to maybe make you realize that you need to enjoy your youth while it last, have fun at college.

I just has my senior Prom last night! And I realized how fast my highschool years went by. It feels kinda like a big blur.

As someone else said, the first 2 years of college is gen ed classes and they suck. Final 2 years (3 for me) is engineering classes and 90% of them sucked. Your life is pretty much over after high school. Just savior your final few summers of freedom.

You think that went by fast, wait until you get into college. It seems like just yesterday I was a naive little freshman.

Advice for college: Do your homework, don't procrastinate, and don't fall behind. Granted, not all majors are the same, some people (including one in political science) don't seem to do a damn thing and they do fine. My experience with mechanical engineering though has been that if you don't do the homework, you're screwed. In one of my classes, every test was open book, and we could bring a sheet of notes as well. But if you didn't do the homework so as to learn the procedures, or know where to look and what to look for in the book, there would be absolutely no way to finish the test in time.

But damn I'm glad to be out of, what was for me anyway, the nightmarish public school social environment. My summer job is working in a hot warehouse, lifting heavy boxes. I'd gladly do that rather than relive high school.

HS was a cake walk...but college- well, moderation- be sure to have a blast, make mistakes, get messy and meet lots of people...then when work time rolls around...youll enjoy school even more...

hahahaha HS = freeedom lol lol. :p. I really wish I was back in HS where I don't have to worry about bills, my constant deadlines from work (kind of like... you have projects to do all the time, and you have plenty of time to do them, but you cannot procrastinate, and anything below that "A grade" results in failure and goes against you when you do your year-end review...or even possibly get fired), etc etc... i'm just glad i'm not married/have a family yet. hehehe :p.

but ya, reflect on your experience, and have fun while you're young. Make some cool memories to talk about, and get mentally ready for college. good rucks.

Man, it seems as if i'm getting older, time flies faster... Kind of like a roll of toilet paper where it runs out faster as you spin it

Oh you guys let the kid dream some. ;)
But yeah, it is the end of your freedom not the begining. :(
