First the person I was replying too said they elected to take a paper check rather than start DD right away. So in this case, he has the option of both.

In every instance of DD I have seen, they do a test run and still send you a paper check the first time. Once they get confirmation that the test passed, the next check will be direct deposited.

I make $40k a year before taxes and shit. after taxes, 401k, medical, etc, i make about $27k

Tell me about it. I grossed just under $60K last year, netted (after taxes, 401k, etc) just over $40K, and will get back ~$1800 this year in a refund. Gotta love it! (or it'll make you cry!!)

Of course, that's a far cry from my first paycheck, 30+ years ago. Made $2.50 an hour, probably worked ~30 hours (part time in high school). Don't even think they bothered taking taxes out back then, because they knew I wasn't going to make enough to break over the tax threshold (around $4K, back then). :rolleyes:
