So it turns out my internship worked out real well - I got the phone call the other day - full time offer for a junior analyst position with a major investment bank.

63K base salary
+ 10K signing bonus
+ annual perfoamce bonus
+ full benefits
+ free tuition

Looks like I'll be moving to New York city 🙂

I have a friend who works as an investment banker out in california. Good lord, she works a lot, but it's definitely going to pay off in the long run.

I'm in the investment research division - mostly IT actually. Once I get MA in Economics, I'll see about being a business analyst.

My hours aren't too bad actually - during the summer I was doing ~10 hour days.

I feel sorry for you, I'd never live in New York.

ditto that, I don't care what they pay me so long as it's sub-100k. Enjoy the PITA that PITA that city is when you have to get around.

hmmm... compared to anywhere else I've been in the US, new york city is by far the easiest city to get around in. Unless you insist on using a car for some reason.

Lucky you. I hear investment research is bearable. Corp finance is killer...

QFT.

Good luck! I know someone who does something similar in NYC and he works ridiculous hours. He's lucky to go home in time for dinner most nights. His fiancee is lucky to have him home on weekends. Hope you won't meet the same fate.
