Woot.. $205 D9GKX

Received my yet another set of memory from this deal. Although I have an extra set of DDR2, the price was just too good to be true for D9GKX sticks. (And for the record, I'd never owned a D9GKX stick) I know D9GKX and D9GMH are same ICs with just different bins - but it's like owning an X6800 vs E6600. I wanted to have them but I just couldn't allow myself to buy D9GKX sticks because of the high price tags. (Big thanks to AT Hot Deal forums and the thread starter, Keitero)

Preliminary test results are just phenomenal. I'm totally blown away by the performance of these sticks.

E6400 @3.20GHz (Sub-timings left auto)

1.80V: 900MHz / 4-4-4-12
2.00V: 1000MHz / 4-4-4-12
2.10V: 800MHz / 3-3-3-8
2.20V: 1100MHz / 4-4-4-12
2.45V: 1200MHz / 4-4-4-12

E6400 @3.60GHz (Sub-timings mannually adjusted)
2.40V: 900MHz / 3-3-3-8 14m 27s Super Pi 32M
2.50V: 1200MHz / 4-4-4-12 14m 13s Super Pi 32M

These Pi results are almost reaching to those of E6600! My other sticks (all D9GMH) can do 1200MHz on this board, but they all require CL5 past 1100MHz. Firestix are the first sticks I've owned that reach such high frequency with such low latency. Paint me impressed!

I've heard the theory but knowing it coming from XS, I thought their 'high voltage' was something like 2.70V+. 🙂 I wasn't expecting such a big difference from my other sticks at the beginning, but when it went past 850MHz/3-3-3 with just 2.20V, I knew these will go higher.

BTW the AT effect is really powerful - within a day of the original posting they raised the price by $75. Bleh..

You got them already.....Nice results BTW!

I also couldn't pass on the deal and ordered last thursday but they didn't ship yet.

We'll see when I get them!

yep, I bought a stick of 512mb Firestix DDR2-6400 on EBay for $33, which would run fine at any speed or voltage on my P5B. 985Mhz @ 1.8 volts, for example. I never tried any higher as my C2D was burning up, but this shows what a great board this is and what great ram. These Micron D9GMH (B6-3) stock timings were 5-5-5, while the D9GKX (B6-25E) Firestix are 4-4-4. Unfortunately I had a brain cramp and decided to sell it as I wanted a dual channel pair. Now I am using a 512 stick of Infenion DDR-4200 I bought for $9.99 (which run fine at 700Mhz @ 1.8V with 4-4-4-12 timings) until my new dual-channel Crucial Ballistix DDR2-6400 arrive, which are also D9GMH. Hopefully they will run as well as the Firestix. Unfortunately packages from the U.S. can take up to a month or more to be delivered in Canada and NewEgg doesn't ship here 🙁

I was going to order two 1GB sticks for $189, but after I told everyone about it and got home, they were sold out and the price was $80-$100 higher 😛

Do the regular DDR2 800 Firestix use D9 also?

Khurios2000: My order number is #176 per the confirmatiln e-mail.
TBSN: I didn't really get time to test more after the initial tests. But when I tried 800MHz/3-3-3-1T for once or two, then concentrated on 2T. (For those couple tries I couldn't stablize 1T.) I will test more later but I don't think my board is meant for 1T.
Avalon: Yeah that's what happens to me most of the time, too. But this time I jumped in right after seeing the original post in Hot Deals forum, and I'm glad I did. 🙂

Wonder why they didn't ship yours first? 😕 Mine was shipped on Thursday. Opted for overnight because the difference between 2nd-day was only $4 or so. ($13 vs $9?)

i opted fedex ground 🙂

Well that I figured. But it's the transportation time which takes longer, not the time of shipping process?
