Article about CTS with 400hp

<< VETTE-POWERED CADDY?
Cadillac will roll out a 400-horsepower version of its new CTS sedan early next year. The hotted-up CTS will draw power from the same LS6 engine used in the top-of-the-line Corvette Z06, and it will mark the launch of a new generation of high-performance Caddys, a program TheCarConnection first reported on last year. Tentatively named CTSi, the vehicle is aimed at a lofty standard: ?the goal is to beat the (BMW) M5 in every turn,? says a GM source. Initially, there had been some expectations that the performance sedan would use either a modified Cadillac Northstar V-8 or even a supercharged version of the current CTS V-6. But cost, complexity and availability issues came into the equation?and GM?s product guru Bob Lutz, gave thumbs up to the LS6 package after driving a prototype. Some packaging changes will have to be made to the LS6, so exact specs are still undetermined, though the CTSi is being described as ?blisteringly fast.? The big V-8 will be mated to a six-speed manual transmission. And there will be a subtle upgrade of the base CTS?s exterior and interior.

mmmm....this will rock!! Sure the styling is a little wierd, but given the performance and handling of this...this car will be amazing! I'm sure the chassis will be able to harness all this power will use the torque to its advantage!

Can't wait...sure is a good time to be a car enthusaists with all these nice cars coming out in the next few years!

Have you SEEN that car from behind? UGH!!

It looks like someone folded it down the middle...really silly lookin'

Hopefully, though, Caddy will finally have a successful venture into the "younger" market....so i say more power to 'em....

CTS may blow by my A4 on the highway...but i'll "look" better overall! 🙂

edit: grammar

correction 400HP in a tiny caddy is uber sick!

The CTS will blow by you so fast that you won't even get to see what it looks like!! 😀

Seriously though, it does look wierd..not ugly..but wierd/unique/etc..it is eye-catching though and I think that is what Caddilac was aiming for.

I'm happy that they are stuffing a big engine in that car..it will fly!

Hmmm...sounds to me like direct competition with the Holden they are planning on bringing over here....

Beat the M5 at every turn? Yeah... I can appreciate lofty standards but this is like the 2nd year of production for this thing. Maybe they should first beat their quality control department (until morale improves). Is it even RWD? Does that mean it'll be around the same MSRP as the M5 ($69k)? Yikes... I can't remember the last time anyone even considered paying that much for a new stock American automobile.

Its weird looking, but I would love to have one, hell it looks better then some cars I have seen. And caddys are just smooth.

Do your homework, that car will be nowhere around that price, and yes it is RWD

I saw one of these on the road last weekend (obviously one of the current, V-6-powered cars, and it did not look TOO bad. I think the styling is probably too bold to age well, though, and frankly I think a 400-bhp Cadillac is an answer in search of a question, as I don't think too many performance lovers would look seriously at a Cadillac, nor would many Cadillac buyers covet that kind of brutal performance. Strangely, the present car will only use its current V-6 for one year, before switching over to a completely different design - tough to imagine how that inspires a whole lot of consumer confidence.

The current CTS is somewhere around 30k if I remember correctly, so I can't see the new one topping 70k like our friend Turkey here thinks...

I love the styling, very unique, unlike anything else on the road.

...and I absolutely *LOVE* the engine!!!

Time to charge up my GM card so I can collect the 5% rebate;
