Just saw the movie...overall, it was the best movie I've seen in the last few months, and I see on average 3-5 movies a week, lol. Great writing, and the details (like, Epiphany & Co. ^_^) were hilarious. It was just very well executed.

Although my only complaint is that Dreamworks originally intended their animations to be the "anti-Disney", whereas something like Shrek is exactly what Disney would do, minus the sexual references. If you can't beat em...

the first one was painfully unfunny but the animation was good, surprising to see a sequel rate so well.

It seems the negative reviewers, whether on Rotten Tomatoes or IMDB, all seem to reference themselves as one of a select small group that found nothing funny in this film, or the first one. "OMFG I'm an elitist counter-culture prick, just like all these other people that hate popular stuff due to the fact that it's popular!"

I renewed my license this morning and since it only took ... <insert fanfare> ... 45 minutes, I had some time to kill. With the free time, I decided to see Shrek 2 and like one of the reviewers said, the first 20-30 minutes was unexciting and droll. Then it starts to pick up when the cat shows and it's all fun from there. Plus I thought the final action sequence was great, especially with the cheesy music going on. :p

It gets my thumbs up for silly, kind-of-out-there-but-not-really fun.

The animation is even better in this one. The background scenery is rendered so well you'll swear its not animation but rather filmed.

**** Very slight spoiler and question for those who saw the film ****

Was it just me, or did they intend to make Prince Charming sound and act like Sean Penn?

I think the first one had the originality factor that made it 'better' and I think the plot (if you want to call it that) was better in the first. In Shrek 2, though, the animation was improved and I found it to be so much more funny than the first.

Definitely more funny for me, too. Exceeded my expectations. :)

Dude, it can't get any more anti-Disney than that.
