yeah, so i'm a lowly 16 year old, but i'm getting my first car soon, and i'm excited!
dunno what to get though, sounds like my dad is pitching in 2250 and i have to pay for the rest, he might give me more it soudns like if he finds that you can't get a decient car for around 3500
so, what should i look for? what make, model, anything? whats your suggestion? i honestly have no preference atm, except i think that i would like an actual car, not a truck, suv ect.

Old Honda Accord or (if you're not afraid of a little snow sliding) the newest Ford Crown Vic / Mercury Grand Marquis you can afford.

Goodluck in whatever you choose. $3500 isn't much, can you give us something to work with? Something sporty? Sedan? Coupe?

Maybe the newest Civic/Corolla you can afford. Cheap(er) insurance, good on gas, and reliable.

92-95 Civic hatch or 94+ Integra are both practical, fun, reliable, and aren't styled so aggressively that they look outdated. With some effort, moderate mileage ones can be had within your price range.

Can you drive a standard?

I am also 16 and recently got my first car. Unfortunately my parents are to say the least, not generous with money. So I had to find one and pay for it myself. Luckily my uncle had an old Ford LTD sitting around ready to be towed away for scrap. It did however work fine, its just really really old and really really crappy so his wife didn't want to use it anymore. (Circa 1984)

AHH the first car..I remember mine a beautifle 1978 Ford XC falcon...oh wait i still own that car ..yah for me

old audi's and bmw's arent bad if you have extra stowed away for upkeep... they've been known to hit 200k+ no problem (when taken care of well)

sure if they're all rednecks.. domestic crap, i'd only buy a few american models but nothing Ford or PONTIAC

Yeah dude, well they're fast, look good, and if domestic is crap then that's just your opinion. I've had a Trans Am I bought nre in '98 and haven't had one problem with it. And it could still blow your rice burning POS off the road.

looks at your username...HAHAHAHHAHAHAhahaa

Altima was a great suggestion. I'd also look at the cleanest, best maintained Camry you can find as another option.

You'll more easily find a lower milage, newer Altima over a Camry though.

Yeah if you don't like the ones I showed you, go for a civic or prelude. Girls lover preludes...and those little acura hatchbacks.
