I don't think Democrats can win if they don't get a Health Care bill passed. The base will simply not turn out. I already wrote to DNC and told them not to bother asking me for my vote or my money if they don't get anything done on health care reform. If I wanted to vote for a party that will sell out all its principles once it gets elected, I'd be a Republican.
Or perhaps you are starting to realize that neither party is capable of delivering on its promises. I honestly hoped Obama would go after Congress with a big stick, but the Democrats even with a majority are starting to splinter, as they have in the past.

Similarly, why would you want Congress to push through an inherently flawed Health Care bill. In an attempt to appear decisive, credible and productive, the Democrats are walking a thin line. If they pass a rushed and flawed bill through to meet an arbitrary goal, they will spend the next 4 years attempting to repair their mistake.

Because status quo is even more inherently flawed and unsustainable in the long term. I am all for taking time if that's going to produce a better bill. But we all know that it's just more time for lobbyists to corrupt the legislation and lobby against it. The bill is not going to get better by being tossed around a few more months. What we cannot afford is another failure to do anything on health care reform because we let perfect be the enemy of good.

Of course it would get better waiting a few months. There is no damn cost savings in any of the current bills. I know a bill will pass I want on that actually does what Obama campaigned on. A bill the lets me keep my insurance, lowers costs and expands coverage. The current bills are terrible and should be scrapped. I say let Obama and his crew write a bill because Pelosi/Reid had their chance and blew it.

The health care industrialists are pulling every string they have on this one. Too bad most of those $$$$ strings are tied to the wallets of the minority party. Still, they're managing to put enough pressure on the Dem side to make the Dems look pretty bad at the moment.

Please, give me a good alternative.

This. I can't see myself ever voting for Palin, she simply isn't leader material, but the dangers of having one party control congress and the white house are becoming evident quickly. Checks and balances are needed.

I would say this is a bad sign for Obama since Romney is an unknown to a lot of people, especially independents and Democrats.
A poll for an election MORE THAN THREE YEARS FROM NOW and you're actually seeing this as anything meaningful at all? I saw the heading and just shook my head. I'd never read an article about it as it cannot possibly say anything meaningful. Polls only three months out are only mildly accurate.

I'd rather them pass a flawed health bill then tweak it to make it work rather than pass nothing at all and then let the Republicans back in to make sure it doesn't happen for another 20 years.

Once the public option is in place, there will be no taking it away.

that makes no sense at all. pass a flawed medical bill that has the potential to waste billions, put people out of work, get people killed etc over the chance the repubs might get back in..

There's absolutely no chance it'll be that bad. That's all Republican/insurance co FUD. Most people will keep their private insurance. People will keep saying their same doctors. Life goes on.

The interesting thing isn't that there is a poll or that it is a meaningful poll.

The interesting thing is that after less than 6 months in power half of the people in the country would rather have someone else as President. I think this is less 'who will you vote for' and more 'are you happy with Obama or do you want someone else as President'

Right now Obama is in trouble and unless the economy turns around it is going to be a long 3.5 years for him.

It had better be perfect because according to some the law trumps good or evil. Letting someone die if the rules cause harm is good, because we elected those who would first do harm through ambition and ignorace. This is America and that's one of our core values. Through war is peace. Through ignorance is strength and freedom is to be slaves.

True. Remind me, who won that?
