Sorry, I'm a little excited. After fighting with Whorizon for over a week, they finally got their act together and hooked me up. It's great to not have to use my phone line!

🙂

🙂

Viper, if it makes you feel any better, I'm on the same network as Anandtech. Regardless of the amount of Internet traffic, it will always respond at lightning-speed for me 😛

:Q

Mday, I do to. I work for the ISP that argues with Whorizon (formerly Hell Atlantic).

I just have to say: working during the Whorizon strike was Hell. One more reason why I hate lazy union workers.

I don't care so much about the forum speed, I do most of my posting from a T1 at work. I'm MUCH more concerned about my 5.6K download speed. Makes downloading 600 MB ISO's pure hell.

Currently connected at 52,000 bps.

🙁

Which is..? I don't remember seeing the info anywhere. Please enlighten.

DSL blows sorry..I got @home thur AT&T and it is faster than my college connection while I am at school which is a T1 I get 600K per sec downloads!!! lovin it I upgraded from a 56K so anything is better than that.

nateholtrop, Cable is way too unstable. DSL is the way.

Anyway, cable slows down too much when lots are using. Pings are crap.

Iam patienly looking forward to DSL.

loL snow, u're getting high speed connection next friday too eh? mediaone finally hit my hood 🙂

dl - yep, Friday is when the engineers are supposed to be here! 🙂 Knowing my luck, something's sure to go wrong though 😉

I dig my DSL.

You said it, its not flakey like cable. I had cable (briefly) and at times it slowed down to a crawl.

If you are blazing away with cable, then do enjoy it. Cause when more people start using it, your rate will drop.

DSL isn't always what they toute either. You can download some monitoring software to give you an idea of the average. My 768/768 would actually average between 480-880/???.

I dunno, I still want faster and cheaper!

but thats just me

Now that you got some people wound up about having DSL, and another group angry about "lazy union workers", don't forget to mention how quickly you got it so you can get a whole new group of people mad. I can't believe you got it connected that fast.

Now you'll be downloading 40MB files you don't even need just to see how fast it is. 🙂

Hey, I didn't mean that all union workers are lazy, just the ones that work for Verizon. 🙂

Okay, might as well piss off another group: My DSL was hooked up less than three weeks after I ordered it 😛 I would have had it sooner, but Verizon said the completed the work order, but actually hadn't started it. I opened a trouble ticket, had some guys at work fast-track it, and they sent a tech out in two days 😛
