WOOHOO

hehe well its going back to the states in a year's time, as of yet, there is no HD in india. It'll be used for watching movies and playing xbox/htpc stuff. I wonder what one of those wmv9 videos would look like on this. hmm... 😀

the reason we got it now is that my dad can import stuff duty free (from japan), so it ends up being really cheap (cheaper than US).

anyway, i can't wait till it comes. i can't believe it only weights 80 lbs...our last tv (36" sony wega) was 280...

Yes, 36" of glass weighs quite a bit (on your old TV).

wow thats a nice tv! i really want to get a new tv bad! i have a 27' wega thats like 4 years old and i still love it, however I want a WS/HD tv now, especially that I'm making some $$$ 🙂

however I also dont wanna get one yet since I'm still living at home and don't wanna move the tv out if its so huge (when i eventually move out). but 80lbs ... i could move that no problem 🙂. I think my 27" tv right now is heavier than that!

85 to be exact. still probably too unwieldy for one person to carry alone, but it sure makes moving it around a whole lot easier 😀

hey I'm also just wondering ... if you have speakers next to these types of TV's (projection tv's I guess) will the magnet in the speakers screw up the tv picture? i am just wondering because the front speakers I currently have supposedly had "magnetic shielding" around the speaker cones and wouldn't distort the tv picture, however when RIGHT next to my current TV they distort the picture. I have to keep the speakers like a foot or 2 away from the tv to get no distortion, just wondering if the projection tvs are like this.

oh and btw my tv i'm talkin about is a 27" wega.

May I ask what happened to your 36" Sony?

sold it...

No problems?

Nope, we never had any problems with it. Some people reported seeing one side of the image "shear" down after a few years but ours did not have that problem. We just didn't have enough room in the house for 2 big TVs

We had a 36" Sony.. it lasted about 15 years and a move from NY to South FL. It had to be repaired twice in those 15 years, but at the time it was cheaper to repair than to buy a new tv. We recently just got a Panasonic 42" plasma to fill the hole that the Sony left.

Edit: And congrats on the TV. I personally would've gotten what you did, but my dad wanted plasma.. and it's his money, so.. yeah.
