Give me the info on great restaurants! I'm currently looking at the Lobster. My hotel is the Fairmont Miramar in Santa Monica, so I want something close by. By the way, throw in the good shopping locations too!!! 😉

If you're gonna be in Santa Monica, the best place to shop would be the third street promenade. Its a long row of shops, the street is closed to traffic, and there's a mall at the end of the street. I love going there.

Hmmm I haven't been to a lot of other good malls... Beverly Hills undeniably will have good shopping though. If you don't buy anything star gaze because they will be around.

Cool Fetts, 3rd street will be a good place to start, get to melrose and the beverly center if you want to "complete" the shopping experiance. 🙂 Restarants, well Maruoch on Santa Monica and Normandie is an excellent Lebonese/Middle eastern restarant, Cafe Bijou on Ventura Blvd. at Fulton is the #1 rated restarant in L.A. and is one of my favorites. Katsu Ya is my favorite Sushi bar, thats Ventura Blvd. at Colfax. What else, have time to see the sites or just business-business-business? If so Santa Barbra is great, a short trip to the desert is awesome, even better, a trip up the 395 is mind blowing in its size and beauty.

I arrive at 1030am, and only have about 30 minutes of business to conduct. I'm staying overnight, and catching the early flight home, so I can see Psycho. I plan to be done with my business and checking into my hotel at 1pm. That also gives a 30 minutes gate for flight changes too. I plan to hit the street as soon as I drop my bags off.

3rd Street is a great pick! It is also good if you visit it in the evening -- that's when the street performers and other cool people come out. 🙂

Downtown LA is sure a boring place, HoBos everywhere, one of them yelled at me for not giving me money...

meanwhile, there May be some nice resturant in the central district.

I'll throw in my .02 since your in Santa Monica, just take PCH down to Malibu. There is an amazing restuarant with Lobster called Moon Shadows. Awesome.

ARRGGGGHHH!:|
If only I could remember the name of this place!
It wasn't too far from the Pier and it was advertised as having the BEST
Marguritas in LA if not CA.
When you get to your hotel- look in the Guides they usually have in the rooms.
El Choro- something like that.
The food was not too bad
but the Marguritas will knock you on your A**!

Deslok: Are you referring to El Cholo's? It's a Mexican place.. on Whilshire? or was it Santa Monica? I guess they could have the best margarita's (not a big drinker). Many of my friend's were raving about how good the food was there. I must say I can't agree. But all my friends except for my roommates really like the place, so you might like it too.
