woohoo! Got my instrument rating.

now I am certified legal to fly small airplanes in clouds. doesn't sound like much does it? but I started the training for it over a year ago and have spend more than I'd care to admit 😉 I kicked ass on the oral part of the exam (insert joke here) and did just ok on the flight part, but still good enough to demonstrate to the examiner that I'm a safe pilot.

the examiner is a super cool guy... he flew hueys and cobras in vietnam and now captains a Gulfstream 5 for Toyota.

now to drink  and play BF2.

i've got an A/P - i can fix that small airplane you fly in clouds

safe pilot? i seen you fly, it's not pretty 😉

I wish you had been there to fix the turn coordinator that failed for real during the test. pissed me off, I told them about it 2 weeks ago. keep the dirt side down is all you need to know though.

mighty nice of them to continue the examination with a broken airplane. Most examiners I know would have bagged it right then and there, unless it was almost over.

wow, somehow that doesn't fill me with confidence that i could one day be sharing airspace with you!!

I knew what it was before I cam it.

Frequent flier since Sublogic Flight Simulator (flight sim fans know how far back that goes)

He had to meet certain standards to pass.
When you practice it is normal to strive for perfection in every aspect, and achieve near perfection quite often. This happens often enough that a little error here or there, well within standards is viewed as a failure of some sort.
I've had my good flight tests and bad ones.

would you feel better if I told you a pilot only needs a 70% to pass the written exam? you have some C students flying around out there 😉
