Woohoo! Got my 1st paycheck! Now what to spend it on... *UPDATE*

I got my very first working paycheck today, and I have no idea what to buy. The checks about $300. I know thats kinda small, but for bein 16 thats not too bad for a weeks worth of work. Im thinkin about buying a few cds...i like rap and r&b. any good cds out this week? im also thinking about buying some blaxploitation dvds. ill let you guys decide what ill buy...

try to save some of that $300. Start a habit of saving money, then you'll have a small fortune (or emergency fund) by the time you are 20.. 🙂

<< Save half of your paycheck each time you get it; you'll thank me later. >>

well, i thank you now. i think ill spend like $40 on cds...$80 on dvds, then put the rest in the bank.

Yes, save as much as you can (CD, savings, whatever). One day, you'll look at your savings and say, "Whoa, where'd all this money come from?!?" Five minutes later, you'll have just bought a nice, expensive toy. 😀

id go for some dvd's and save the rest .. you'll need it someday, dont search for things to spend your money on

yes put alot of it towards the amdforlife nice car fund....
say 4k downpayment for a 95 m3 =) least thats what my friend is doing
except his is a m3/vallentine I fund

<< Macy's? >>

!!!! im offended! sears would beat macys down! we're the #1 distributor of boots in north america.

snakesnfrogs...if i were a woman...i wont even finish this sentence...

lowfatbacon..im thinkin about savin 2-3k for a 2001 impreza, or a 95 GS300, havent quite decided which one i want yet. plus ill bum another 1 or 2k from my mom for the down paymenet.

Definitely go for the 2001 Subaru Impreza even though Lexus makes some of the best quality cars in the world I'm assuming you won't be buying until early 2002? That's only 5 months away, by then the Lexus will be 7 years old. Time flies!

ill be buying it...if i stick to the plan...labor day weekend. on average, i should make around 2k per month...so im pretty sure i can handle the car note and down payment. my dilemma with the cars is im thinkin the impreza will have a higher insurance rate then the GS300...but thats a whole different thread.

go for imprezish.....i love my '01 impreza 2.5 rs it handles like mAd

insurance is high but you could either take defensive driving to get lower insurance or see if you can get one of your parents put on as the main driver of the car....and just neglect to tell the insurance people u'll be driving it all the time

and gs300 has 220 hp I6 arg and the weight is 3700 impreza....165hp better handling 2700 lbs
and if ya have more money later you can turbo it =o which is what i plan to do later on

i plan on getting on one of my moms insurance plans. shes never had a ticket before in her life. but i was already told id have to pay like 100 dollars a month in insurance...

Cool that's good that you'll be buying a car soon. Still go for the Impreza. In order to lower your insurance:

1) If you are a high school or college student (or just graduated - but shh they don't have to know that) and have a 3.0 or 3.5 or higher GPA you can usually qualify for a "good student discount".

2) Take drivers ed, even if it costs you money. It can save you a considerable amount of money overtime.

3) If possible add your name and car to your parents insurance policy and/or their home owners insurance policy. You can save a lot of money with a "group discount".

4) Usually your car insurance will drop after 1 year of having continuous insurance without any accidents/tickets, it also drops when you hit 18, 25 and when you get married.

and neglect to mention any add-ons if you do decide to make them....turbo's intercoolers NOS.....
i don't think someone under 18 being male on a new car or semi new could get anything under 150 per month i dunno though

hers my info: 16 year old male with over a 3.5 gpa. I had to take drivers education to get my license. Ill be under my moms insurance, and shes got a perfect driving record. How much do you suppose insurance will cost if i get an impreza?
