Woohoo!!! Got an A- on my final paper about NVIDIA :)

WOOHOO!!!!! My history teacher loved my paper!! He said that I didn't talk about NVidia's (actually TSMC) chip fabs in my paper (which I did in fact describe, maybe he just overlooked it) so I sent him an email back citing that in fact on page 8 that it was there plain as day. Maybe I can bump it up to an A or A+ for pointing out his error

That should bring my average to about an A in that class

my teacher said its the first perfect she's ever given

still got only 85% in that course though

Mine ended up being 10 pages, but here's the assignment:


<< Write an eight page paper on the history of a company (or an industry) you are considering working at. (I am assuming it is a technology-based company.) I want you to include a section describing how this history might affect your own career if you take a job there. I am assuming that many of you are actually considering jobs right now, but if you are not and you want to do this assignment, you are free to pick a company of your choice.

I do not want a history of the glossy brochure type that companies sometimes provide you. I would expect you to have at least ten sources, using such material as The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Fortune, Business Week, or other business or professional publications. Any paper that does not take use of non-web sources will be penalized.

Some things you might consider:

-Is this industry growing or declining or remaining stagnant?

-Is this company growing or stagnant? How might this affect your career?

-How has the Internet affected this company's business?

-How has globalization affected this business?

-What kind of people have become CEOs of this company? (Are they people within the company? Do they have technical backgrounds? What does this say about the company?)

-Where does this company have locations? What is the relation of these locations to the company as a whole? Where is the center of the corporation?

-Does this company have several lines of business? Which is the most important in terms of profits? In terms of the company's future? >>
