Woohoo! Both CC disputes against VA worked!

When VA went under, I had $250 in rebates pending (split evenly between two CC's). Someone here suggested we dispute the charges with our CC company. I never thought it would work, but I ended up doing all the paperwork, crossing all my i's and dotting my t's, and in the end it was worth it!

What can I say? Thanks to whoever suggested this! Too bad VA - kinda the ultimate "hot deal" - had to die (probably no thanks to the minority here that likes to order 10,000 items off a misquote and complain when they don't arrive), but through thick & thin I've had great online shopping experiences thanks to this BBS.

It was a joke about how boring and stupid the forms were, but props to Zero - I would've never seen it had I not written it.

One was AMEX, one was a Mastercard from USAA. For the record, I would've highly recommended both companies even before this incident; I've had nothing but good experiences (while the opposite has been true of every single one of their competitors that I've tried).

I had no problems disputing mine with AMEX-Blue. It was only a $20.00 rebate for Diablo II. I just filled out the online form (AMEX makes a dispute MUCH, MUCH easier than a Visa/MC) and had my refund within 2 weeks.

db, VA eats it-- the CCs simply jack the payment from them--it is part of their merchant agreement with the CCs. The problem is investigated, and if VA is found to have broken the trust between themselves and the customer, they don't get paid.

This is a great example of the power of the modern consumer--gl to all who do this too.

Richard Berg - I wonder if I can dispute not receiving my $50 rebate from VA even though I did receive the $129 VooDoo3000 AGP card they sent me. When you disputed with your CC's did you flat out them that YES you received the product however you did NOT receive the rebates? Or did you just say that you received neither product? I sure would like to receive my $50 rebate some way or another. I'm not sure though if I should dispute not receiving the rebate or the product?

Zero - LMAO, good catch!

Wangel - I wonder if anyone else got your T&A reference?

Damn it I wish my CCC weren't such tight asses with my disputes. I signed up for AMEX Blue... I hope I get approved. If I do, I'm dropping my current ones cuz they suck a FAT D**K.

Get an AMEX. I had a $100 rebate pending against VA and they refunded the money right away and then investigated. Amex Optima offers same luxaries and it is a no annual fee card. I make all my net purchases on AMEX because of this.

AMEX easily has the best customer service of any credit card I've used. The only one that came close (actually was probably better) was AT&T Universal Card BEFORE they sold it out (December 1998, I think). First Union isn't bad, but they just sold their credit cards to MBNA.
