Woodworkers take a look at the coffee table I built

Nice job....it looks a lot like a Quebecois blanket chest. ...... all it's missing is to have 4 posts at the corners.and the sides and ends joined around them with about 4" protruding at the bottom for legs. The skirt around the bottom is a nice touch.like this

It does have legs....!

here is an armoire I made last year. I painted it a dark navy blue with milk paint I mix myself. The panels on the doors are painted an ochre yelllow and the paint is cracked to imitate age.

panel detail

Have you ever considered making anything bigger and more complex.....you would probabaly succeed quite nicely.

Very nice!!.. yes we have also made a dining room table that came out very nice... and we're thinking of working on some other stuff.

Wood for the armoire was about $350 CDN but it wasn't the good kiln-dried stuff which would have cost about $100 more.

I'm sure they do but I've never used one.

did you bisquit join the top?

I am about to make a entertainment stand, and don't know if I want to use joints or just get some maple plywood.

I collect antiques ..I started by just repairing stuff and gradually advanced to making everything myself. Disassembling armoires and other furniture taught me various joining techniques and asking a lot of questions helped also...😉 Quebecois antiques are beautifully simple are good examples for projects. I usually get my ideas from furnirure I see then make my own plans with the dimensions I need. Proportioning the piece is what's hardest and after you've made a few, the rest come easy. Do a search for Quebecois antiques on google image search and you should get a few ideas. ..... a suggestion....try making a bucket cupboard ( armoire a sceau )

Nice job man. Very good look and finish to it. Although I'm a fan of the Ferengi Coffee Table:

Materials:

4' X 6' Foot piece of plywood. Sanded and stained.
4 Cinder blocks.

Optional: Additonal 2 cinder blocks.

Some assembly required. Stores easy to boot if you're low on space.
