Woodworkers, I'd like some advice

Ok, in case you couldn't tell from all the responses, the pictures offer absolutely no clue as to what it actually looks like. It looks about as 3 dimensional as a slice of ham.

Yeah, but I did say, repeatedly, that it's already hollowed out.

For reference, pic 1 is of the hollowed out center, pics 2 & 3 are of the bowl flipped over from 2 different angles.
Maybe I'll try to take another picture tomorrow with my hand in it or something, or with light coming at it from the side so it looks more 3-D.

I dunno but the best is to just use carving tools to get the basic shape then start sanding that mofo with increasing smoother sanding paper to get it baby butt smooth.

I've seen some really neat effects accomplished with sandblasting. It really brings out the texture because the softer wood (and rotted bits in your case) erodes faster then the harder stuff.

I was thinking the same thing myself. Burl wood is extremely heavy and dense. Wish I had ready access to a sandblaster, it'd take much of the work off my hands.
