Thanks for reminding me of ex, been meaning to post this: warrant

Not to say it matters, however no DOB? no address? no description?

You go on and on about some girl that needed to leave the whole country and her children because of you, some how I think she is the right one here.

So with all these tools you buy, are you taking care of your kids too? If so why do you need to pester her?

Things that make you go 'hmmmm'

Å

Ex didn't leave the country because of me, she decided to leave all on her own, I was planning on just living with things the way they were. I was forced into action by her behavior. My firends & GF (now my wife) had to do an intervention on me to tell me what was happening was real & I needed to get off my ass & spend bucketfulls of $ to get custody. Freaking CASA called me @ work & told me to get custody of my daughter, the chief of Police @ the hospital my ex worked @ made a 200 mile trip to tell me my ex was really moving to another country....

Our straight A gifted daughter is competing in a flag waving competition ~75 miles away right now (I was up helping her pick up some black shoes for it early this a.m.). She just got special recognition from the school board for her participation in the regional band with her bassoon playing, and she has a slight bruise on her jaw from taekwando class , where she was just given her kata to practice to earn her black belt. She's also spent the last 4 summers in gifted programs @ Texas A&M & UNT, and volunteered >400 hours @ the hospital I work @ last summer.

Go troll another thread... This one's about woodworking.

an intervention? noes!!@! 200mile trip?!?! they couldn't call you? so sad :(.

ohhhh straight A's...you got a honor student bumpersticker too? flag waver and 75miles away! da bassoon! whoa! TKD too! man you da man!

You sure she volunteered though? 400 hours in a summer assuming that's three months sounds like a full time job to me.

Where is the woodworking happening? I don't see that at all.

Thanks, you sent that in a PM way before this.....you'd think you'd understand that not counterattacking me, who only asked a simple question at the beginning of all this would be your answer.

However you respond in a PM also prior to this about Cloverdale accounts, your step daugther being a millionaire next year, and a ton of other unrelated issues....

Like I said privately: I think really you are the psycho here and only got lucky that your ex didn't want even the kids associated with you.

You still didn't answer what are you building? <- a valid question and what tools/needs do you have that need a dust system? <-- another valid question

or are you just looking for things like "WHOA! you are a cool woodworking mutha!"

Awesome stuff, I'd love a cycleone type system, but don't have the room. They had a large remote controlled cyclonic system @ the Woodcraft shop I was @ last weekend, it was really slick the way they could turn it on & off with the machines.

Looking @ this
Jet system

If I pick it up from Amazon, I can keep up the rebate scheme Jet has for the next couple of months ($100 rebate on each machine if you buy more than one of Jet's products, and another $50 off attachments) It'll be like getting one of the machines for free.

My stepdaughter's biological father was killed in an auto accident in 02', and we have a pending lawsuit in her name. The other driver was @ fault, ticketed, and caused the death of another passenger. I'll pass along your condolances to my 11 year old, and my wife who's had to become the administrator of his estate. Yes, we have about 8 lawyers working for our family, the settlement is estimated to be worth ~5 mil, and it all goes in a trust account, managed by a non-family member, selected by the courts.

Now STFU & go troll elsewhere.

I was never trolling...you just took offense that you could not provide a reason other than wanting to buy tools. You have no need that I can see other than talking of some future retirement that you need a full woodshop to accomplish.

I am a woodworker so I would like to know what your plans are to give you advice. If you just want the opinions of some people simply spouting off DELTA! JET! POWERMATIC!!!!! then buy whatever looks the best and gives you the same bragging rights as mentioning a 5MM lawsuit and a team of *about* 8 lawyers working for your family. Somehow I now see why you are married to her. Cha-Ching!

So your current wife got nothing out of this lawsuit for losing her ex-husband or was she already booted prior? This soap opera you have spun here never mentioned millions of dollars you were inheriting only that your ex-wife drained you and your poor family of money.

It really seems to get better and better though....I recommend all the bleeding hearts to go and read all your posts about your break up and divorce though....it paints an interesting picture.

A dust collection system cannot be recommended from the information you have provided. One would need to know how many tools, how many being operated at once, what size work area you have, and several other variables.

The 6 vs 8" jointer is also a question of what do you want to build, how many projects are you planning and what other tools do you have....

I have the Jet 1100 cfm and I love it. One thing that improved it's performance greatly was adding a chip collector that I made out of a 40 (?) gallon metal trash can that I sealed up with foam tape.

Also, when setting up your collection tubes, don't use any 90 degree bends. Use 45's whenever possible because 90 degree bends severely limit your vacuum. Keep your hoses and tubes as straight as possible with as little bends as possible. I used 4 inch metal tubing that's normall used for clothes driers. It worked like a champ. Also be sure to ground the system so as to reduce your chance of static electricity starting a fire.

That's great advice. A fire in a dust collection system while rare is a very seriously thing if it happens.....a dust fire in a woodshop is almost as if every bit of air is on fire. 4" tubing is usually plenty for even many pro shops. The tubing really depends on what your vacuum source and length of piping is though.

For many a shop vacuum system is a wasted purchase. A shop vac can serve dual purposes fine. However if you have money to burn that is a different matter.

I realize it's rare, but why take chances?

I used a shop vac for dust collection for some time but I got tired of emptying it all the time, especially when planing. Besides, I just didn't realize how bad of a job the shop vac did until I got my Jet system.

Seriously quit ragging on everyone that responds to you.

Do you realize I did not 'rag' on you with this post? I mentioned it was rare, yes. Did I ever say grounding a vacuum system was not needed? I merely said for many a vacuum system is not needed. Many may want to get into woodworking and not realize it's really a simple hobby and can be done cheaply and without power tools.

I don't know how big of projects you have had, but I built a pretty large desk, a tv console, and two book shelves and still have plenty of room in a large shop vac. The floor got some dust on it and in between tools we vacuumed, took all of 5 mins between setups.

One more thing with a central vac system is your tools get more tied to their surroundings. There are ways around this of course, but for the average home shop a central vac system is many times the wrong way to go if sharing space for a wood shop.

Am going to rig it up in a 2 car garage, I'd like to be able to hook router table, table saw, jointer, planer, etc fairly permenantly, the woodworking bench will be my first project. Am hoping the smaller size dust collector will handle a chip collector with all the piping I plan to hang.

Here's a diagram of what I hope to put together:

shop

(please forgive my MS paint skilz, or lack thereof)

Just talked to the guy with the jointer, it's raining today, I'll grab it tomorrow, it's the last piece of big equipment except for the dust collection system. I have asthma, so an effective dust collection system is pretty important, will need to add an air filter into the mix too. I also don't want the hassle of moving everything all the time, thus the fixed system for collecting dust.

Your first post was a personal attack:

"You seem like the guy that takes all the classes, has all the tools, but still buys his furniture...."

"What the hell is a Japanese-style storage building?"

"It's clear you don't understand the difference between needing power tools and simply buying them."

"What dust is being raised in your shop? Let me guess your psycho ex from the UK."

"You go on and on about some girl that needed to leave the whole country and her children because of you, some how I think she is the right one here."

So to paraphrase what you've managed to post in my thread about a shop
that I'm in the process of setting up that I'm a psyco poser/bad parent liar because I haven't done any fine woodworking in a shop I haven't put together yet, and dared to take a class about.

You seem to ignore the fact that I've done residential construction for years, although after I got a degree it's no longer my vocation, and hasn't been for several decades.

You sir are a troll, I simply started a thread about woodworking, there are many folks that have some significant experience on this board and I'm simply trying to pick their brain(s). I am sorry this seems to have offended you, it was not my intent.

I tried to talk with you via PM's & all I got was pure meanness:

the problem is not on my end....if your step daugther will be so rollin! then you don't need to worry about a 6" vs 8" right? Cloverdale accts oh my!

I still have no idea at all what this has to do with retirement...and as far as crappy situations caused by exes....my tally is almost mid 6 digits.

However this all started with some questions I merely asked in your thread....I think really you are the psycho here and only got lucky that your ex didn't want even the kids associated with you.

dude you are not going to let this drop are you? You are clearly the nutjob here.

Nice you feel free to post PM's also but hey what are you do know about what's etiquette right?

My first post was not a personal attack, I said 'seems like'. However in your quick to jump to the self defensive you assumed I was attacking you personally.

You then went on to flame me and then bring up a ton of unrelated items....I still have no idea what a Japanese storage unit is other than possible somewhere you store Japanese people....

However you are very confused you post this: I am sorry this seems to have offended you, it was not my intent.

then this: I'm sorry and respectfully request you stop posting in this thread.

then this: Please go the fvck away...

All in the same post....so you see now once again you hurl insult...you first two items would have sufficed, and actually just the one item all by itself....but there you go with your psycho behavior, calm to manic. For me who remembers just about all you post and have yet to see any solidification, it's becoming clear. Anyone that would post they were attempting to have their ex arrested on Christmas day that wanted to see their children has issues.

If you don't want my advice either ask nicely or don't post publicly.

My dust collection system consists of shop vacs and switches from Sears. The tool and the vac plug into the switch. When you turn on the tool, the shop vac comes on too. Works ok for my needs. IE, not a builder just a homeowner.
EDIT
Added link.

In the future, I plan to join a router table with my tablesaw. I want to remove the feed table from the right of the blade and build a router table in it's place. Add a good fence and you have a space saving, dual tool.
