Well, it's a good but slow tool for the small percentage of screws that aren't so thoroughly rusted that the head snaps off no matter how careful I am with the drill...

Current method of attack is to pull the board up off the screw shafts and then use pliersto bend the shaft back and forth till it snaps off at the joist.

Now I'm looking for the quickest way to cut through the screw shafts...

Anybody think my cordless Dremel with the fiberglass cutoff wheels will do it? There's going to be a ton of these....

dremel wont do a very good job. They should break off if you hit them with a hammer to the side. 41/2 inch grinder with a cut off wheel would cut them right off.

I hate Philips screws, but haven't found a good alternative till now. Check out Outlaw Fasteners. They claim to not strip, slip or wobble off the bit. Looks like it would really work. Here's the link: url deleted

Actually seems it may be a decent screw, but I bet expensive.

Unfortunately, now this thread will be locked and when I have this deck issue next spring i'll need to start a new thread 🙁
