hm...i like my z560s...people with really sensitive listening must really get the good speakers...the ones that cost 300+ per speaker 😀

get an Audigy 2 which is THX certified and you're 560Z will thank you for it!

I only listen to music - no DVD drive on my system (the DVD setup is in the family room). I like cheap, and cheap is what I got!

if the logitech speakers dont have much midrange...then what are better speakers to get?

anything under $150?

I did a lot of research before I bought my Z560s in September 2002 (for $120 after pricematch/coupon at staples) and I honestly couldn't find anything with more power and quality than them.

I'd recommend them, but I'd listen to all potential speakers before you purchase.

do the rear two speakers make a big difference when listening to music? i have it setup as a 2.1 because i don't feel like running more speaker wire and find a place to mount the rears. am i missing out?

Well, I don't have a U-shaped desk, so my rear speakers are actually on my desk in front of me. But I'm just remarking how amazing it is to hear things in my music that my previous two-speaker Altec Lansings don't even pick up!

It's not surround sound if the rear speakers aren't behind you....

I bet if you tested the frequency response of Z560s there would be shelf smack dab in the middle. 🙂

For 120 bucks, I'm happy with mine. 😉
