woo hoo, I put in my two weeks notice!

I sent out a group email this morning, informing everyone that my last day would be in two weeks. I also emailed HR a letter of resignation, in pdf format, signed by myself.

All morning, I've been getting emails from people saying this and saying that. It feels great to have this over with. Now I can just enjoy the last two weeks with a small grin on my face.

My coworker is crying, we can hear her sniffling over in her cube.
 
u just broke ur coworker's heart. I say you take her out to a nice dinner tonight and then let her show you how badly she's going to miss you.

I'm leaving for a few different reasons; a few of my co-workers are incredibly annoying, the project I am assigned to is incredibly boring, and I want more money.

This is what I am doing next.

I dont know, she's a drama queen. She's 45, divorced twice, and breaks up with her boyfriend every other week. She comes in crying almost once a week. Im desensitized to it now.
 
Enjoy it, KK - greatest feeling to have at a job that's not fulfilling is knowing you're moving on to greener pastures.
 
Awesome man! I know I usually feel pretty damn good when I resign from a job. For once you are telling your boss how it's going to be, and there isn't a damn thing they can do to change it.

Then again the boss could be like, "Well now I can hire someone who does it better for less, I'll just pretend to be sad about soandso leaving."😉

heh, i had at least one co-worker cry when i left my job. too bad she was a skank (although she did have a huge rack and liked to show it off) who died recently of a drug overdose or something.

 
I find it odd HR didn't terminate when you announced this to the whole company prior or at the same time of letting them know via email.

Usually this kind of thing is in the stuff you signed that HR would be notified first and spoken too prior to any announcement.

 
My company has a habit of firing people right after they turn in their notice so you're lucky. Good luck on your new job.

It's a possibility....but the salary is awesome, and if I work for this new company for a few years, I can get a job anywhere.

I sent out two emails. One was a formal email with a pdf attachment of my resignation letter (signed). This was sent only to the HR department and a partner. Another informal email was sent out to everyone else informing them that I was leaving.

I don't see how that is grounds for firing. I didnt tell anyone why I was leaving. I just said that my last day would be on Nov XX, 2007, and it was a pleasure working with everyone and I wish everyone the best.

It has to do with many companies not wanting others to know of people switching jobs until they can put together a story if needed.

If you are working non-corporate/big business probably not an issue.
