I was constantly having problems with Firefox.. it was pissing me off because I would always have to use the windows task manager to close it; sometimes when I would open it, it would hang, and external links from other apps didn't load 99% of the time unless I copied and pasted.

So....... I removed most of my extensions, and the problem went away! Now I'm just using Adblock, DictionarySearch, Super DragAndGo, and All-in-One Gestures. I removed Tabbed browser preferences, tab clicking options, tweak network settings, some print extension, bugmenot, and a couple other I can't remember..

Point is.. if FF seems slower for you after a while, try removing some of your extensions! I  FF again now :)

Glad you found this (and confirmed what I've been saying ;)). Firefox is at its fastest on a clean install (after pipeline speed tweaks.) However adding extensions slows it down, which is frustrating because an extension is required for almost any customization.

That's why I went back to Maxthon...its faster than firefox after extensions are added, and it has plenty of plugins to compensate for the needed and addictive customizations/features.

Wow... thank you for the advice! I was having the exact same problems and decided to rid FF of all extensions except for adblock. Shut down FF. Restarted FF. BOOM! My problems are now gone and FF is superfast once again. Thanks OP!
