Price is definitley high, but after reading the descrip it seems to be used for this proprietary direct link they have with one of their media drives. Still think its outrageous but its not like they're saying its the end all solution to lag etc. *shurgs*

While it does say that it's still just a standard ethernet cable, wrapped in nylon and has plastic tips. So it's not like that made their own special cable that looks like Ethernet cable, it's one in the same and the wiring matches.

Like it says it's using high quality copper; copper is copper; all ethernet cables use copper.

Sounds like the QX CPUs. If you want the utterly best quality/speed, price will definitely have a premium. If I'm not mistaken, I believe my friend has said in the past that Denon is known for making very good HD players or audio hardware or something.. I don't quite remember exactly what it was though.. It was some sort of high end thing that I found utterly overpriced.

YAY!.

Another product to go with:
Monster Cables
Killer NIC
<insert company I forgot name of> gold power cables.

For a min, I thought it said $4.99.

Hmm. I actually noticed a difference on my TV when I used Monster Cables and the normal ones.

Placebo Effect....

...or the cable he had before was messed up/breaking/broken.

Isn't digital audio . . uh . . digital? I use common cat5e and RG6 quad shield for remote theater installations (components in hall closet; screen, speakers and DVD player in bedroom/living room/theater room 100 feet away) and it's just dandy.

"Should I get this cable or upgrade to a 60" for the living room . . ."

Oh, well, I found the answer:

"It is acknowledged to sound better that SPDIF, Firewire and HDMI. The lack of jitter, huge 1.4gbps bandwidth and ultra-low noise are what makes the difference."

Source: https://www.forumhifivisual.co...ABLE__1_5M___1478.html

I'd still like to talk to those who "acknowledge(d)" this and cover their eyes and have them prove it to me.

Cause thats all it is, the pinouts on the cable are exactly the same; there is no special audio only crap in it. Just an ethernet cable with more shielding and a nylon coating.

That's anything but "confirmed" all that is "marketing hype".

Use HDMI?

(...i can't believe someone would actually consider using this over-priced ethernet cable)

I work for a custom cabling place, and we get a lot of ethernet as well as some more complicated cords that we build and usually mark up quite a bit. The reason for this is that each wire is individually hand tested and made sure to work. Usually you have to pay more for the assured feeling you have THE wire you need.

Of course I find these prices ridiculous, given the fact I get payed minimum wage ;).

Just like the original Das Keyboard ($20.00 Keytronic for $90.00) - there is a sucker born every minute and a sharp to take him... Man, can't you hear the nuances in those ones and ohs?..

IMO this topic doesn't belong in OT anyway - I just read about it today on Slashdot, so came back here, did a search, found both, decided to post in this one. This thread has more replies so this one wins.
