I don't know if this is a processor issue but this is where I am starting. My computer was working fine until I opened it up to unhook my DVD writer. After that, whenever I turn it on.... the fans turn on and I hear the hard drive spinning but doesn't seem to be doing any activity. No beeps or anything. Nothing on the screen either. I've determined that it isn't the hard drive or video card. I've already tried clearing the CMOS. Is it the motherboard or processor? Did I just short something out or what?

Synderon,

It would appear that u unloaded some static electricity to some component on your MB.

Did u "unhook" (remove IDE/SATA cable) while pc was on?

if it was OFF at the time, chalk this up as a lesson learned on making sure to wear a ESD strap. (Fry's $5-12 part)

At this point, barrow or purchase a PSU and swap it out. (as a test)

If pc doesn't POST then it's a good chance u shorted MB and may have also fry'ed your CPU.

good luck
