Won't boot after flashing bios using Asus Update

I tried updating the bios from 1002 to 1007 using Asus Update in Windows. I downloaded 1007 from internet and then used Update to Update from File. It seemed like it did it ok and then when I rebooted..I got this message:

"NTLDR is missing."

I found this error on the internet and tried to copy the files from XP disk to harddrives. Copied them...rebooted...then got another message that said something about boot.ini is messed and then it will try and boot to windows and then another message comes up like "system32/hal.dll missing."

I figured this would be a good time to stop trying to fix it and come on here to see what you guys have to say.

Also, I found another thing peculiar. When my computer boots normally, it says something like "SiliconImage Raid click F4 to configure" or something. And then below it after about 5 seconds, itwould say something like "NVRaid Healthy" or something. When I POST now, it does the "SiliconImage Raid" message comes up, but the NVRaid comes up VERY quickly and I can barely read it it goes by so quickly. I did catch that it didn't say "Healthy"...I think it may have said "Not dectecting Raid" or something like that. It literally goes by so quickly that I cannot see.

Any idea what is going on?

I really do not want to have to reformat and install XP again...such a hassle. If I can solve this problem without having to reformat, that would be great. Thanks for help.

If you flashed with any thing other than awardflash 1.11 you may have problems. :(

Warning:
This BIOS can only be flashed with
the following flashtool versions
(or higher versions) !
Do NOT use older versions !

ASUS LiveUpdate v6.05.01
ASUS AWDFLASH v1.11

FINAL = beta Status
1007 = 15.04.2005

Here is the LINK for the 1.11 flash tool. My question to anyone is can I boot an A8N & 3500VENICE core with the early Bios and then flash to 1007 that provides suport for the new core????? I have my board the chip arives Tuesday.

I feel your pain. I have a A8V-E Deluxe. I updated the bios from 1003 to 1005. Flashed the bios and everything crashed. So i restarted and it and did it again. Then it wouldn't boot at all. I had to reinstall windows. It still is acting funny. Atleast I can use my computer again. As soon as I figure out how I am going back to the 1003 version. The 1005 version screwed my rig up.

I have the latest version of Asus Update and when I downloaded 1007, it was not a beta version, but a fully released version on the Asus website.

When you fashed did you load the default settings in the bios after you flashed and then changed the settings? I flashed using the windows utility and have had no problems at all. I load the default settings and save to the bios and let it reboot and enter the bios again and reset my bios to where I had the settings before.

This is step by step what I did.

I went to Asus website and downloaded 1007 bios.

Went into Asus Update and selected Update from File.

Found the bios I downlaoded and click Flash. It said it was flashing and flashing complete and needed to reboot.

After it rebooted, before it loads Windows, I got the NTDLR is missing message.

From there, I wrote it all in my original post of everything else.

I am not for sure but after you flash the bios, when the machine reboots enter the bios and load the defauts for the new bios and save and reboot and reenter the bios and reset your compute to where you previously had the bios set at. I allways load the defauts after a flash and save and reboot and change my settings. I think that is where your problem is is that you did not enter your setup screen and load the defaults for the new bios and save.
