Just on MSNBC radio.

Apparently the alarms started going off after an intruder was detected.
This depot destroys/stores chemical warfare items such as nerve gasses and mustard gas.

(hehe... poor bastard representing the plant sounds like a complete idiot. This is gonna do wonders for Utahns' reputation.)

take it easy chicken little. worry when something really happens.

Sad thing is that if something happens, it'll already be too late. Tooele (where the depot is) is just upwind from SLC and Heber (where I live). If something happened, an evacuation probably wouldn't be able to happen in time.

It'd take one hell of a breeze to get from Tooele to Heber... what with all those pesky mountains in the way...

Hope so. MSNBC hasn't said anything else on it yet. I can't get KSL in my office.

Beau, you are chicken little.

Little story I was told by someone that worked at the depot. A guy back in the 80's tried to commit suicide by crashing his car into one of the bunkers loaded with nerve gas. He blasted through the checkpoint in his pickup and the gate called the MP's. The MP's caught up to the guy 45 minutes later (he had driven for about 40 min) high centered on railroad tracks. The guy was STILL 30 min of driving time from even reaching the chemical/nerve gas storage bunkers and had he reached them it's not guaranteed he would have penetrated the bunker.

All the chemical agents at the depot are gone (burned), they began processing the nerve agents this year and should have them all destroyed by 2005. (last I heard anyway)

Chicken.

You don't accidentally wander onto chemical/bioweapon research and storage millitary bases.
