Wonder why Brokeback Mountain didn't win the Oscar for best picture?

I think Crash was a great movie and I loved it. But I dont think it was worthy of Best Picture. It just wasnt as Best Picture movies of the past. I think Munich should have won.

I kind of agree with that.

But didn't Midnight Cowboy win an Oscar?

Best picture, best director, best adapted screenplay.

Excellent flim, by the way.

Has an action movie or sci-fi film ever won best picture, or are they only willing to give it to artsy-drama pics?

Action and sci-fi movies usually aren't that good, because fans are willing to settle for less than the best picture.

Gladiator, Braveheart, Rocky, Patton, The French Connection, Lawrence of Arabia (epic)... not sure how you'd classify On the Waterfront, I've been meaning to see it.

I think Crash won because it was interesting how it incorporated a lot of elements of new American culture together.

I especially liked the Persian family and the Hispanic family.

Number 1.) A lot of people are very discramanatory against M.E. people in America right now and Number 2.) A lot of Hispanics are moving into the country right now obviously causing a large backlash.

This movie was more contemporary.

I think you push the gay issue way too much.
Winnar!!

Seriously who cares about Brokeback, its just playing up on a sensitive issue that too many people are afraid to express their real opinions on for fear of stepping on the gay community's toes.

sorry. you felt that way, but obviously others didnt.

and could you post a MORE bias source?

Bay Windows: New England's Largest LGBT Newspaper...

LGBT... Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transvestite???

honestly, you are a homosexual, we get it. stop pushing it in our face and trying to make us feel the same way you do. i know some gay's i respect them. but not ONE of them pushes the fact that he is gay in my face.

please get over yourself already, you give the gay community a bad name.
For accuracy, the "T" in that acronym stands for transGENDER, not transVESTITE.
There is a world of difference, psychologically speaking, between the two.

According to what I've read and studied, MOST transvestites self identify as "straight", in that they can and do perform with the opposite sex while all transgenders identify as "gay" in that they are attracted to the same sex as they are physically while being the opposite sex internally. If you're confused, try to imagine the internal conflicts they suffer.

Simply put, Your sexuality is not determined by the clothes you wear, but rather what arouses you and creates the feelings necessary to orgasm.

As for this discussion, casting aspersions towards another, saying they defame "their" community is a two way street. Your feelings about "the gay community" are yours alone.

The only thing that's giving anything a bad name here is the chattering of narcissitic nabobs of negativism.

All y'all need to STFU already.

Who in hell gives a damn anyway? This sort of divisive commentary only divides us from the real problems of our society. As long as "the gays" aren't hitting on you, why do you feel it's any of your business WHAT , WHO or WHY they like anything?
