Can the OP request a positive feedback? Does the seller have to give it to him? Can the seller request that he does NOT receive negative feedback?

If the OP gets positive feedback, then leaves the seller negative feedback, can the seller file a complaint with eBay?

I would never buy a computer off a website/auction where the seller didn't take the time to really write a decent ad, much less type out "you".

Why are you impulse buying computers on ebay anyway?

He says he's a new user so I assume he doesn't have much feedback already.

If the OP talks tough, he'll just say, "Sorry, I can't sell at that price and feel free to give me negative feedback. I'll start a new account tomorrow. Thanks for bidding :)"

He ISN'T going to sell it to you for that much since he thinks he is losing ~$500, what he doesn't know is that the most it is possible worth is $650 and since you don't need it you really shouldn't buy it for $530. You could probably make $30-50 on the fs/ft forum after having to pay shipping but like I said I don't think that he's going to sell it.

I think it is a good suggestion to ask him to pay you $50ish and good feedback then you will let it go, he might do that.</end quote></div>

whats the deal with everyone saying the seller should send the op money?
if someone asked me that i'd laugh in their face. besides, isn't extortion illegal?</end quote></div>

At this point, I understand that the goal is for both parties to cancel the deal and receive positive feedback. Demanding money from the seller would be counter productive and might very well result in both parties getting negative feedback.
Demanding money in this situation is Not a good idea considering that the buyer is more then happy about the deal cancelation.</end quote></div>

Yup. And once the OP asks for money to let it go, he no longer has the legal high ground. He won't even have the Ebay rules high ground

This is retarded. Just agree to leave positive feedback for both of ya'll and be done with it.

Seriously, was this even worth posting?

Just be a nice person and cancel the deal. No feedback either way, and just forget it. Sure you could 'force' him to sell it to you at that cost but do you really want to look forward to whatever he may do to it to screw you?

Just be nice and drop it. Ebay stinks because of people trying to screw others.

Never buy a computer off ebay no matter who the seller is. Sellers don't care about their customers.</end quote></div>

Not true, my bro bought an alienware laptop for a really good price. Then he managed to mess it up by adding memory or a changing the hdd or something like that. The seller honored the 6 mo warranty, paid for shipping, repaired and returned in 2 weeks.</end quote></div>

See the thing is I don't believe you. You could just say that because I have no idea, you may be a major ebay seller just trying to make yourself look good.

</end quote></div>

see, the thing is I don't care if you don't believe me. I've never sold a computer on ebay, nor do I plan to. And even if I did, advertising on a ATOT ebay thread probably isnt the most effective way to go, wouldnt you agree?

My bro chose to buy one off ebay, did his research on the seller, contacted him before purchase, and all went smoothly.

I don't care either. I wouldn't either and that should tell you to never let any of your family members or at least suggest to them not to buy a computer ever off of ebay. A lot of my friends will never buy stuff off ebay even if its $100 to $200 cheaper because you can't trust any of the sellers. This is why a lot of them are hurting so badly.

Right now it's 4:36AM and I was browsing E-bay and saw this really good deal, I don't really need the computer but from looking over the specs I thought it was a really good deal and bid a maximum of $450 and ended up winning the auction last second.

$450 + $80 shipping = $530 Total is what I will pay for it.

So for $530 did I get a good deal on this computer or not really?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISA...0126044006#description

The auction listing description is below :)

"very well maintained pc. extremely powerfull, and capable of pretty much everything. takes on any workload u throw at it, easily. u can literally run entire adobe suite at the same time and not lag at all. games are not a problem, comes with top of the line video card.

dual opteron 252 2.6ghz 64-bit (5.2ghz total)
2gb 400mhz corsair ecc ram (512 times 4)
dual 250gb western digital hdd sata II (500gb total)
16x dvd burner/cd burner drive
floppy drive
ati radeon x1950 xtx 512mb hdcp pci-express video card
asus k8n-dl motherboard
Windows XP Professional
onboard 7 channel HD audio
case with clear side window and fan w/ blue light
500watts powersupply

everything runs perfectly. been using it, and loved it. must sell to get a laptop. one powerfull custom pc you cannot afford to miss."

UPDATE

What should I do now? This guy just sent me this message over E-bay saying this..

"hi. ive a request. im realy new to ebay and didnt even realize i dont have minimum price for this item. i wanted to list it and reserve it for $1000 minimum but didnt know how and couldnt find that option. would it be possible for u to void this transaction please. it was all my mistake and i cant sell at this price. hope u understand. regards"

I mean I won the auction fair and square, it's his fault he didn't set a minimum....I hate to tell him that and pay for it then have him not ship it to me, or maybe he ends up shipping it to me but I find out parts have been taken out because he was pissed since he had to sell it to me at the price I won the auction at.</end quote></div>

OP you are being less than honest with the E-Bay seller on this deal.
Could somebody PLEASE send a link to this thread to the E-Bay seller. I dont have access to my E-Bay account at this time otherwise I would do this myself.
Thank you

I am being less then honest? How? This seller did not get as much as he wanted for his computer so now he is refusing to sell. I am the one being ripped off here, instead of a new computer I'm going to get nothing.

Eh I just canceled the transaction, forget it. I sent him this.

Umarsohrab,

I'm not sure if you got my last e-mail I sent you, if so just ignore it, I've changed my mind. Lets just cancel this transaction and feel free to relist this computer again on E-bay, just remember to set a minimum this time. In the future, remember that an auction is final, if I didn't agree to end this transaction you would be obligated by E-bay's rules and regulations to sell it to me. Here are the rules all sellers must abide by (http://pages.ebay.com/help/pol...-non-performance.html)

I think there is a way we both can withdrawal from the transaction. See if you can find it, I tried and couldn't find it.

you know if you watch the hot deals you can get a brand new system with Vista, and warranties, and most of the same specs for 399.00...

so I don't think its a great deal anyway...and that guy will never get 1000.00 out of it anyway on ebay...

if you really want the deal..contact ebay

I would be hesitant to go through with the deal...I would look for a Hot deal and they come and go daily!

he wanted a grand for that? over valued for sure.

alot of people dont seem to realise this..... that year old computer you spent £1800 making, is worth about 4 pence used.

i had a nice rig, i spent £1600 making it, and over the course of 2 years spent a further couple of hundred quid upgrading it. in the end i got about £400 for it after all was said and done (parted out some of the more powerful bits, replaced with less powerful bits and sold to my dad for next to nothing)

its only worth what some one will pay for it, not what you think its worth.

personally i think he should just suck it up....his mistake. he should accept your money and ship you the goods....and have this as a lesson learned. on a number of occasions i have bougth stuff i didnt want completely by accident, but have gone through with the transaction because my bid is my word and legally i have to pay unless its agreed between the seller and me that i dont.

and how do you NOT see the reserve price option.... its right there at the top with all the other pricing options, start price, reserve, buy now....its all right there. didnt see it or claiming not to know how to use it....my ass.

It's moot now, but $530 for that computer, all put together, and presumably tested and working, would have been a fantastic deal.
