Sharapova has really worked on lessening her grunt. The funny thing is, women didn't use to grunt that loud. Monica Seles was real controversial when she first played because she grunted so loudly. Since people in the stands had to wear earplugs when sharapova played in wimbledon a couple years back, I can't imagine that anyone would mind monica seles anymore.

And yeah, serena should contract with sharapova to have sharapova wear her clothing line.

I recall Federer commenting on the grunting in tennis. He said something along the lines of men use the grunt as timing while the women grunt for the power. I think he's trying to insult Nadal, who has beaten him on several occassions 😛

I remember having it on as background noise, and one of the announcers said something like "If she makes this kind of noise on the courts, just imagine what she's like in be- Wait, I can't say that!"

WTF does grunt as timing means? Sounds made up. It's natural to grunt when you hit the ball hard. In fact they teach you to grunt when exerting yourself in certain sports because it helps you breathe properly. That is why some boxers do a "tssst" noise when they punch.
