Women's March speaker tortured a man to death

Absolutely hilarious how desperate all the conservatives are to find some liberal somewhere to criticize for something while protecting/ignoring their routine advocates for brown genocide and such. What an ideology to be part of.
As opposed to the ideology of dragging completely irrelevant talking points into a discussion focused on the merits of inviting a murderer and rapist to speak at a woman's march.

It's a mistake to have this woman involved in whatever the cause is they were promoting.

An admirable person would be one that rose above their abuse to inspire others and bring positive attention to the issue.

It is not admirable to succumb to and participate in the "rape culture", commit heinous crimes, then seek to inspire others because you managed to stop committing heinous crimes after getting out of prison, with the main outcome being to bring negative attention to the issue.

The problem with threads like this (including the ones where a handful of protesters turn violent) is that there's always a sinister subtext, intentional or not: "because of this one horrible thing, the entire protest is invalid. Conform, submit, stop questioning your masters."

The Women's March was and is still important, despite choosing a problematic speaker. Even if it's just because it made Trump fume knowing that his inauguration crowd was tiny next to the protests the following day, and that he does not have the will of the majority behind him.

Just say things.

Then it becomes true.

Pedophiles too?

The last refuge of the political coward is the "won't somebody please think of the children?" anti-pedophilia defense. Pedophiles are horrible, but please don't try to distract from your flawed argument by using an extreme example.

Having more than one consideration is hard for some. I agree on what you say but when important issues are being spotlighted it might be best to vet speakers carefully. Of course this is a universal statement, not directed at this March. As far as Trump, he could be used for serious pathologies in a psych course. That does not make him less dangerous, quite the reverse.

How many times on here have you said something about "grab her by the pussy"? Trump said he's sorry..
Can you quote Trump apologizing for grabbing strange women by their genitals?? I don't recall Trump ever apologizing for it. He did deny it although there are women who say otherwise.

Oh, I agree -- they should've vetted the speakers more carefully. The problem: threads like this are rarely started with that kind of nuance in either the subject line or the text itself. They're frequently started with the intent, or at least strongly implied intent, of invalidating an entire movement based on what a small subset of that group did.

It's not a problem, it's a P&N feature.

Without the sinister subtext it would just be the OP saying "LOL, check this out. It's super dumb!" and everyone just posts "Yep! That's totally dumb."

That accounts for like 90% of the threads

At least half of those things I think you're trying to list as falsehoods were true, haha.

This is why you should learn a lesson from DSF: don't copy and paste things from right wing websites. They have no respect for your intelligence and assume you will swallow whatever they print. You're just proving them right.

That was sad, just from seeing how your mind works.

Trump has probably done as much one week in office, if you're in cherry picker mode, and a lot of BS quoted.

So then you agree that some people are beyond redemption.

Only the people he disagrees with are beyond redemption. Only the people on the other team are beyond redemption. Which makes people with his mindset little more than cheerleaders. Get that boy a pair of pom-poms and a fuzzy sweater.

Yup, alot of bs from both sides. Thats how my mind works.

Rightwingers angry that women's march trounced their pathetic inauguration and pro life march in attendance, so they are grasping for straws.

Are you sure your anger at losing the election hasn't prevented you from seeing the hypocrisy in this woman's case and displayed by her adoring fans?

Only there is no hypocrisy here. None whatsoever. She's a perfect example of the consequences of a male dominated rape culture that instead of protecting victims of rape and molestation, returned them to their abusers to be abused even more. It about rape culture and the refusal to believe abused women and children. That culture is prime breeding grounds for sociopaths.

This thread, the article it links to and their intent is a perfect example of why the documentary "13TH" is so very, very valid.

She was serially sexually abused and raped as a child. As such, she committed a very predictable crime as a teen. She served her time, in fact, more time than a rich white girl would have got. And now she is trying to do something positive with her life.

Good for her.

Having her represent is actually quite perfect. It was the male dominated rape culture that created the criminal she became as a teen in the first place.

Her life prior to the crime was repeated sexual abuse and rape. These are women's issues and all too common. She has overcome her past and is trying to help others. That doesn't make her a hero, but it does show that people can change for the better and that there is hope for those going through abuse.

Fuck that she is a monster.

She is, and her apologists should be careful not to become monsters themselves. You see every time you say something your are programming your own mind. You believe everything you say. Even if you're lying. In time you can begin to believe even your own lies.

You see this is how some of the most intelligent people get themselves into trouble. Because they are so intelligent they have the ability to convince themselves of almost anything, even things that are no really so. This is why some people were so confused as to how someone like Dr. Ben Carson a neurosurgeon, said odd things that were out of touch with reality. It's because intelligence alone doesn't really shield you from losing touch with reality. For that you need specific knowledge on how to prevent losing touch with reality. I should write a book on how to prevent losing touch with reality. There probably are plenty of books on the subject already. People really need to know this stuff.

The pure irony here is astounding. But thanks for the summation of the book "Why people believe weird things." Too bad your cognitive dissonance is so strong, you don't even realize you're projecting.
