In the end though the car is theirs as a daily driver. Also what man would let their wife drive their porche? especially a 911 twin turbo..

My parents driveway is a steep hill leading up to the road. When I was a kid my mom usually had a FWD car, and my dad usually had a 4WD truck or SUV - and a Corvette. In the winter when it snowed if my mom couldn't get her car out of the driveway she'd take the Corvette, because its wider tires got better traction going up the hill. :Q I imagine my dad would probably get pretty pissed when she did this...

corvette in the snow?

Bah, women. What can you do?

You let her bum around town and rack up the miles in that! You're a better man than me!

Anymore pics?

Here's one more, of it sitting in the shop waiting on more upgrades. You can see from the picture that unfortunately, one standard (comfort leather, heated) seat had to be put back in, so that there's easy access to the babyseat in the back. :( The driver's seat is still the lightweight, carbon fiber shell GT3 seat though:

600hp is so clearly insufficient

TWO nobles? Is that a carrera GT in the background?

I'm gonna tell you guys the truth. Are you ready? I know some of you can't handle the truth, but I'm gonna tell it anyway.

These women, who drive 911's are strippers, who your local Porche dealer has spent thousands on, and will continue to. They come to the dealership, and he loans them cars...just to shut them up.

I think this not really because I believe that they're incapable of doing so (even though the thought did cross my mind several times :)) but because most women wouldn't choose to buy a 911.

anyone else agree?

Why don't you ask them yourself rather than making a sexist blanket assumption?

By creating this thread, I hope to hear one of those women's opinions. Walking up to the woman in the porsche in traffic isn't exactly a pragmatic option.

A Porsche 911 at least has some luxury appeal. The Elise, on the other hand, is a pure driver's car that is short on creature comforts. Not many women would put up with the Elise for a daily driver...not many men either for that matter. It's more of a weekend/fun car and the buyers of cars like that tend to be primarily men.
There's this guy who commutes to work everyday in an elise during the summers along part of the route that I take to work everyday. When I first saw it, I was like "what the heck?"

That's my dream car.

But my sister used to go to a private school and I would pick my sister up in a Honda driving past Range Rovers, a G Class, Masaraeti's, and anything in between. All the people driving those cars were mom's who were picking up one kid. It made me sad.

Yea makes me sad too! The cars should be given to people that will actually put the cars to use, not just use it as a status symbol... I think its such a big waste!

By the way welcome!

and how would you put the car to "use"?

It's really annoying when all you talk about is the Lotus Elise. This is a Porsche 911 thread. I personally don't care about how manly you think you are because you drive an Elise.

Just by having some fun, get the most out of the engine and the car, not just driving at 30 around town getting about 10MPG, using it to look cool .. You can buy a small diesel hatchback for that use, Go just as fast, in just as much comfort at those speeds... Probably more in some cases.

I think the same about SUV's too, if you arent going to use it as a "Sports Utility Vehicle" why buy it, i swear you could loose some women in those cars, the amount of wasted space..

sure thing. to look cool or rich is the only reason people buy them. its not like you can "put it to use" legally on the highway. And there's no way I would race a $90k car unless i was bill gates.

My sister-in-law drove a 996 for a while. I don't think she was too comfortable in it. Now she has a nice Audi Q7 to keep her busy.
