Women can't be on SWAT?

All I can say to that is hah!
I remember last year there was a discussion on this very topic and majority here said that women "freeze and start crying when they see dangerous situations" and I said that it's all about training, and you don't have to be a 250 lb man to be good with guns.

I know it's a tragedy and all, but this story disproves the misogynists who said women can't be trained for firefights.

Women aren't allowed to do a lot of things. Most "elite" armed forces positions are only available to men.

I would say that in general, more men are probably suitable for things like SWAT than women. It is true that the average woman is more timid, less strong, and has less endurance than the average man. But that doesn't mean all women. Not all men are SWAT suitable either. As long as they have a suitable screening and training process, there is no problem with allowing women.

Edit: I didn't read the article and assumed it was about not allowing women on SWAT. Props to her for doing what she did.

It depends on the task at hand. Pulling a trigger doesn't require you to weigh 250 lbs.... you are correct.

Women are less effective in combat when it's their time of the month!

.. don't quote me on that.

My opinion is, if you can pass the same requirements, you should be allowed to join. I only get bothered with things like "well, women in boot camp have to do fewer pushups than the men."

All I know is my wife's first shot with my .45 is always dead center at 10 yards. I don't know if thats better/worse/or just average but dang, I would not want to mess with her. This lady is like 10x my wife in aggressive shooting ability... I would be happy with her on my local SWAT or SRT team.

wow. you've never been around a woman who is ragging then.

never give a woman on her cycle a gun.

many people will end up dead.

IMO .. if a woman were president, we'd go to war every 30 days.

It's true. Women have all kinds of little mood swings and problems that can and will affect their decision making process. This is simply unacceptable when you are a part of the elite forces of the police or military. Everyone knows this.

One woman out of the billions aren't there doesn't prove that the billions are capable of doing it. Men can do things that women can't. It's just how we're made. Just like women can do things men can't either. Anyone who's idiotic enough to think that we are indeed equal is stupid. All these stupid feminists don't even believe in equality either. They only believe in stuff that helps them.

I'm pretty sure to shoot a gun it's unnecessary to bench press 300 lb. And for running there is less gap in strenght between women and men.
Swat teams require a lot of teamwork, and women usually more team-aware.

But there is a gap between men and women when it comes to running with an 80 lb pack on and maneuvering with the amount of equipment that is required. Do you know anything about what you are talking about? Real question. What is your experience, and how do you think one woman shooting a gun proves that women can do the same job as men?

And? How do you think 45lbs of gear is going to affect a 125lb woman? How do you think it's going to affect a 250lb man? A little different? What happens when a team member weighing 250lbs and wearing 45 pounds of gear goes down? Is the 125lb woman wearing 45lbs of gear going to drag him to safety? There are reasons they shouldn't be allowed, and they are good ones. Think with your head.

Women just aren't as solid as men in high stress environments, generally. That's why during wwii the west used them as nurses, lol.
Soviets had quite a bit of womens troops, even pilots and tank troops and stuff, but they excelled at things like sniperish stuff, not specnaz.

309 kills!

Then again, nowadays, I think all the female russian cops wear heels and skirts. lol.

You should do likewise.
First of all, weight ranges from 25-45, average 32 not 45.
Small bodied people(women) actually have advantage because they're a smaller target.
Drag people to safety? Too many movies, bro.

You are suggesting that a person who passed combat-stress test, has excellent aim, excellent combat tactics, should never even get a chance because of gender?

simple answer-

imagine 2 scenarios where swat training is equal. top 10% of male Vs. top 10% female, who will win most physical challenges head to head?

mental type of challenges may be equal, but the physical, is no match.

therefore men generally are better at swat, special forces, etc.

I should do the same? Come over and you can throw on my tactical vest loaded with a couple level 4 plates and all the necessary equipment, then throw on a helmet and carry a fully loaded weapon and strap another one to your leg.... then let me know how you think a woman would handle it. I've seen women do it hundreds of times... and 99% of the time it's a joke. God forbid they have to enter a room a suspect has barricaded, or even worse climb over or up obstacles. It just doesn't work.

Too many movies? Sorry "bro"... I've been to multiple shooting and tactics schools, and all of them spent a great deal of time on things like carry techniques and exfiltration. As part of our standard kit we had ropes with carabiners on the end that could be used to throw to a downed teammate and attached to the carrying handle on his vest. Again, is the 125lb woman gonna pull the 250lb man to safety? Maybe in your movies I guess.

This is starting to remind me of Navy SEAL vs MMA fighter thread... sigh
Swat (just like navy SEAL) isn't about hand to hand combat, it's about weapons. Main focus is always on guns.

i know a major part of any law enforcement is guns, BUT a relatively major part is also the ability to navigate circumstances where a woman's muscle mass is just NOT enough.

who would you rather have saving you and your family? if you had a choice? an all women team or an all mens team? and if you said you dont mind either, you either dont value you lives or you are just bsing

this is a fact-------- men are faster than women. check the olympics. i am assuming that the men and women slow down to the same proportion outside of olympic training

Yes because they PHYSICALLY cannot do it. SWAT is just more than shooting and stress and combat tactics. You obviously have zero idea what you're talking about.
