I ride the bus through the ghetto on my way to work, and this is so true. I'm starting to think they're poor because they're retarded. I have a pretty ok job and I wear clothes from Walmart and other shitty stores. The people waiting for the bus outside of a crack shack apartment building are wearing expensive brand name clothes.
I live in a poorer section of town, and it's ridiculous how often you see a car that's worth maybe $1500 sitting on massive 22" rims and blasting music out of a 4000 watt amp. It's absurd.

So mostly it has to do with how they manage their financing than the jobs they have?

I am saying that there are some people that made claims that the accounting profession can be automated by computers in the near future. This article proves there are huge risks to that.

Even if it was reviewed by a staff person, computers could be easily taken advantage of. Probably easier than a person.

Nah, that won't happen. Accounting still has a lot of subjective decisions. While there are plenty of rules, many items still have to be decided based on range, likelihood and expectation.

IS accounting a hard profession by the way?

Not necessarily. But a lot of people who aren't used to having money also happen to be very bad at keeping money. If you're used to living paycheck to paycheck, you feel like all the money that you get in a month needs to be spent, even if you could live comfortably spending less. So you look at your bank account at the end of the month and see an extra $200... well, you could save that, which would be the smart thing for the long term, or you could indulge yourself and get something for yourself that you don't need, but fuck it, you've got the money now, right? You deserve a little happiness! And then next month you're back down to zero and wondering how you'll make it through the month. It's a cycle that I've watched most of my friends go through, and myself as well.

But fuck it, I deserve those 22" rims.

It would be foolilsh to say all money problems are caused by being retarded, but being retarded definitely plays a big role in a lot of cases.

Aside from wasting money on dumb shit, poor people also tend to do things that are mathematically insane. Example: one of my friends got a new 3-year phone contract so she could get a new phone. Stuff in Canada is really expensive so let's say it was a $500 phone and it cost $0 with the contract. All the contract says is that you must have a phone plan. The cheapest phone plan you can get is about $30/month. She was already under another contract, so this means having 2 contracts at once. That means the actual cost of this new phone is $30/mo * 12 mo/yr * 3 yr = $1,080
So I get a phone for the low low price of $1,080? Where do I sign up??

Also, payday loans. If you're responsible enough to pay back your payday loan (if), then theoretically you're responsible enough to handle a credit card. Payday loans run around 100-200% interest yearly. A standard Visa card in Canada is 20%. I hear they're actually cheaper in the US, around 10-15%. I would call this self-inflicted serfdom.

Guess he knows less about taxes and computer upgrades than basketball

Judging his executive performance, he doesnt know that much about basketball either, he was just good at playing it.

And how do you get a 2.1 mil refund on 3 mil earned? I sold a boatload of stock, and they took at least 40%, probably more.

Agree. There was a big scam going on in Fl with the IRS wanting to get the $$ out prior to actually verifying the info.

WTH!

First, thieves obtain Social Security numbers and other personal information from insiders at hospitals, doctor's offices, car dealerships or anywhere the information is stored. Then, they file an online tax return using the real taxpayer's name and a fictitious income. In most cases, the criminals buy a debit card so the IRS can issue the refund on that card, although some thieves have also gotten their returns on actual Treasury checks.
The thieves know that the IRS does not verify the employer W-2s sent with the return until after the refund is issued.
It is a particular problem in the state of Florida, according to law enforcement officials.

From the comments, this is how stupid we have become:

It's sad how people choose to comment. If all that you can comment on is her weight or looks, I highly doubt you yourself are high class. Also buying anything over $10,000 is investigated so buying a better car would draw attention. Save the insults people, low class!
