ROMANIAN authorities have refused to register a baby as "Binladen," the name its mother gave her baby son after repeatedly hearing it on television.

"I don't know who this bin Laden is, but I like the sound of it as a first name," said the gypsy mother, Andronica Stoica, 29, adding that: "I watch television a lot."

The city hall in the western city of Arad said it could not accept the name.

"We are trying to convince the mother not to give this name to the baby, by explaining that the child will be traumatised for life," said official Corina Oarsa.

"Imagine the suffering of a child with the name of such a terrorist."

If they fail to persuade the mother, authorities plan to appeal to gypsy community leaders to try to make her change the name.

As a last resort, authorities "are permitted by law to refuse to register a first name which is ridiculous or obscene, and that is what we will do," said Oarsa.

The young woman, who already has six children, has however said she will never agree to change the name because "it would bring bad luck".

Sajak
Philbin
Probst
Daly
and Saget....

Those poor poor kids.

How bout naming the child: Bataan Binladen Hitler while she is at it?

That way she could offend everyone...

I agree with all the sentiments above.. she is pretty dumb.

However I think that it is a shame that the formerly sweet and popular name Osama will now be always remembered for this terrorist.

She's a fvcking GYPSY!!!!! they are all over eastern europe and have soo many kids they will have a larger population than the other nationalities in about 50 years. bahhhh

How can someone watch "alot of TV", hear the name bin Laden, and not know who he is...
 
I knew a guy once who was named Hitler Hussein. He always came to school with black eyes and bruises, but I didn't ask questions. He was hella good at basketball!

.I especially find this quote peculiar since my impression of this foolishness is that the child will have a ton of bad luck when people are ridiculing him because of his name.

I guess the lady is only concerned with herself having bad luck and the child's luck and well being are of no concern to her.
