Alright, I was a little suprised/pissed and overreacted (although that is what Wahabie Muslums believe). I agree with you that some women who dress like sluts are relativly unattractive (ie they look like trailer trash) but rape happens to women who dress conservatently as well, and as Waggy infered, rape isn't about sex, it's about power.

If it was about sex, there would be no rapists. Rapists are not thinking about their victims when they commit their crimes, they are thinking about themselves. They get pleasure out of the power, not the sex. Multiple studies have shown that rapists in general get more of an erection out of a feeling of power than they do out of sex. The clothing matters sh!t.

The only rape cases where sexual attraction is a major issue is in kiddie rape, which is beyond the scope of this thread.

Also, you are the first straight guy I know who finds exposed women to be a turn-off. If one is looking for a meaningful relationship then yes, slutty women are a turn-off; but in terms of pure sexual pleasure, the majority of guys and myself aren't getting an erection from a face anytime soon.

That merely tells me how many true non-carnal Christians your around. Any true believing Christian who is not dug in with the carnal pleasures of this world would agree. Fact is I dont look for pure sexual pleasure, I'm looking for the person I can call my wife. Thats alot harder to do these days. Rape has his close to me. My girlfriend's mom was raped twice in her life. I go through life everyday wondering if some man is watching my girl waiting for their chance. I realise I tend to be very protective and conservative. But thats me, and she accepts that. I dont have to go through everyday wondering if shes sleeping with someone else or when I kiss her how many other men's rods im kissing. It's just me and her.

I know rape, and while I agree with you that the major reason is power, I also do know that some get an obsession over a woman. Clothing has almost everything to do with that.

to be fair, what with the super-extended commerce power, you could make a decent argument that prescription drugs are a marketed item and that the federal gov't can regulate them all the way through, including regulating dispensing practices.

That's fine, but it's not like women are intentionally aggravating rapists. They wear clothing of that nature for a number of psychological reasons, one of which is attracting guys (the vast majority of whom appreciate a nice body). However, the vast majority of guys are NOT rapists. Thus it is not the women's fault for attracting the wrong type of guy.

Example:
Let's say you're single, you dress a certain way, and you get raped by a gay guy (Disclaimer: I am in no way making a statement against gay people. I actually support gay rights, and have a couple of friends who are gay). Should you change your clothing to deter these attacks? Would you? Even if you knew it was attractive to women as well?

Unless these "zealots" actually force their beliefs on others, it cannot be compared to this situation. Someone refusing to give medication would NEVER be done by an atheist, no matter how much of a "zealot" they are.

Hypothetical Scenario: A kid is born in a box, has no human contact, is fed through a tube and kept alive until he dies from old age. The kid has never heard of religion, let alone one god or another. Does god condemn the kid to hell? According to most religions, yes. I refuse to believe in such a hypocritical god; who claims to be infinitely merciful but condemns millions of innocents every day.

iirc, catholics say no, you can't be condemned if you haven't heard the word.

I think that saying a person should not be allowed to hold certain jobs because they are religious is just as bad, and that's what StatsManD did. My point is that it's stupid to be proud of your religious beliefs because of something stupid that someone from another religion did. There are stupid people who hold every religious belief, including atheism, and yet you don't hear people saying "people like DVK916 make me proud I'm not an atheist." That's an ignorant statement, just like Ranger X's was. You're judging an entire group based on the actions of a small segment of the group.
