Anytime I've worked in food service or food prep and had something requested to NOT be included we made sure never to mix a trace of that ingredient with the final product. If she wants 0 pineapple, and you're using the knife from the pineapple than you're not giving her 0 pineapple, are you?

he would have had she mentioned it was for a food allergy not just a general dislike of that particular fruit.

should Burger King employees ask everyone who says, "hold the pickles" if they have a pickle allergy? i don't see that happening.

i say the woman is to blame. she shouldn't make everyone assume she has an allergy. it is her responsibility to be her own advocate and tell them.

Such as? We can't even stop kids from pushing large plastic toys up their nose. Now we can somehow stop them from coming into contact with a incredibly common food/ingredient which also has an incredibly strong allergic reaction in an environment of little kids who don't know that inhaling dust can cause his windpipes to close?

stick him on one of the balls, or have him eat alone, hell if hes THAT allergic to it just have him stay at home

Please tell me you're joking. You want this kid isolated because he's got a severe allergy that is not entirely under his control at that age? I don't think anyone else is dying by not eating their PB+J for lunch. (And I'm a HUGE HUGE PB+J fan)

All I was wondering was if her order was completed properly with 0 pineapple. No, it wasn't.

Dude, a reasonable person would infer "no pineapples" as "no pieces of pineapple in my fruit salad", not "no traces of pineapple anywhere"

all would have been solved if she just said, "I have a pineapple allergy and would like no pineapple in my salad."
again, it is HER responsibility to say this. does my Burger King scenario not make sense?

here we go with trying to get out of personal responsibility again, and blaming it on everyone/everything else.

You definitely are an asshole. No one is debating that.

I'm sure there is something genetically wrong with you. No one has a perfect body. You are an asshole and a dumbass.

Let us not assume the reasoning is selfish. There are ideals which may be admired and aspired to for humanity despite one's own limitations.

I heard a story on the radio this morning about 1 lady that called to complain because she thought "Men at Work" signs on the highway were sexists, so know they are looking into replacing all the signs to say "People at Work". 1 person complains and everyone jumps now.

I can't think of any times I've ever seen women working on a road crew where a "Men at work" sign was present.

So these two women order fruit salads, and just tell me one with pineapple one without.

I make them at the same time and cut up the fruit: honeydew, cantaloupe, pineapple, strawberries and grapes.

Later one of them calls and I answer the phone.

Her: I just wanted to let you know that I ordered a fruit salad without pineapple and the person who was making it cut pineapples with the same knife and now I'm having an allergic reaction and have to go to the emergency room.
Me: ..you didn't tell us you had an allergy, you just said you wanted no pineapple.
Her: Well, why else would I ask for no pineapple unless I had an allergy?
Me: Some people just don't like pineapple..
Her: (Forgot what she said, but she basically scoffs at that)
Me: If it's something that serious you should mention that you have an allergy
Her: (Reiterates that not ordering pineapple implies she has an allergy)
Me: Well I'm sorry that that happened. (Can't think of anything else to say)
Her: Okay, good bye.

WTF lady? The store I work at deals exclusively with fruit and she thinks she would be okay by casually not mentioning a serious allergy!

Edit: She didn't sound like she was dying on the phone, just like she had a sore throat or something.

If she knew that "the person who was making it cut pineapples with the same knife" why did she eat it in the first place? to set a lawsuit up?😕

Talk about someone being irresponsible with their own health. If you are allergic to a food, it is YOUR responsibility to let the person preparing your food know.

The women were on a break eating Vegemite sammiches.

I still am wondering where all of these food allergies come from. Has no one else noticed that food allergies have increased at least tenfold from when I was a kid? Are we fucking up our environment, adding crap to our food, being fed soylent green or all of the above.

The exact opposite. People are living in environments that are too damn clean. SO when we are exposed to things, our immune system overacts, as it doesn't have experiance fighting off normal infection
I'm not sure if I agree with that statement. Personally, I feel as though most food allergy reactions (most are minor anyways) were simply brushed off as other issues in the past.

There might also be something to do with the variety of foods that are offered today. Stuff like peanuts, tree nuts, exotic fruits, shellfish, and fish were mostly regional before the advent of hardier strains, refrigeration, and air mail.

She's a dumbass. I have shellfish allergies, and if I tell someone I don't want something, I make sure to let them know that I have an allergy to it. Like chinese food places. If you simply tell them you don't want shrimp, they would go ahead and cook all the stuff in the same wok they used to cook the shellfish stuff in. If you tell them you have an allergy they will cook it in a clean wok.

She's a dumbass

I hope he's not a redhead - as they are genetic mutants and should therefore be eliminated as well. Not to mention those with slight colorblindness. Heck, just those two right there and we've eliminated a few billion people at least.

This is, by far, one of the dumbest things you've ever said Anubis; or are you just being an asshole because it gives you a rise? I'm assuming the latter.
