Woman 7 months pregnant shot in abdomen

did you know that Charles Whitman (the clock tower sniper in Texas) shot a woman through the stomach and she was pregnant?

i don't know where that came from...first thing that popped into my head

they didnt even do anything wrong. and this is what they get in return, what a nice way to die, getting tied up robbed, then shot.

i hope this dick face who shot the two gets to eat a nice curb or something.

i would put his face onto a curb like in american history x and smash his head until his head was flat like in the cartoons.

i dont care if he was dead, i would keep smashing his face into the curb.

I agree it's sad that she and her baby died, but I have to wonder about the lack of common sense of some people to consider having *six* children. The world is full enough as it is.

Over population is a problem in some places in the world, but we're doing pretty well in the U.S. I would never want six kids, but having six doesn't really mean they lack common sense.
 
It's still fairly irresponsible, but whatever.. I'd rather have one kid, be able to afford to feed them well, buy them nice things, and give them a nice home, than have six kids, and be working alternating shifts with my wife to make enough money to feed them, never mind anything else.

Ideally I'll have one son, and maybe one daughter.. but if I ended up with two daughters I wouldn't keep trying.. ;P~

Anyhow, I do feel sorry for her husband and kids. Don't think I'm some callous ass just because I think its irresponsible for her to have six kids...

she coulda been pretty well off for all we know. they did own the bar if im not mistaken

This is one of the saddest stories I've heard. The thief got his money... what kind of sick bastard then goes and kills a pregnant mother and her unborn child?

About that guy saying having 6 kids is lacking common sense - stop judging her. You don't know anything about her besides what you've read. Besides, who are you to say that she's wrong to want 6 kids?

Actually the problem facing modern society is people not having enough children. The fertility rate in much of Europe is already below 2.0 (replacement level) and it's dropping here as well. I believe France is even offering incentives for people to have children (as the fact that they are economic burdens is what keeps many people from having them).

Overpopulation is a problem in many areas, I agree, but when a society becomes more modernized and children become a burden rather than an incentive, you have a new problem.


Anyway to get back to the topic, that guy is sadistic and I hope he burns in Hell.
 
Maybe theres no population growth, but that's not nessecarily a bad thing. It's hard enough for some people to get jobs now, especially with increasing modernization removing previous jobs. Do you really want your kids to have to compete with a thousand other people for a job?

Pass your genes onto the next generation, and be happy about it. You don't have to repopulate the planet on your own.

And what would you say is common sense? Maybe after they had their six kids, and they were both balancing work enough to support their family, they might be happy with it. Then something happens and they lose their sports bar. Maybe a fire or something. They can't rebuild it for whatever reason. Now they've got six hungry kids, and are probably working a few jobs each to try to support their family.

They're no longer a 'nice family', now they're the common definition of trailer trash. Little Jimmy asks daddy if theres any food tonight, and daddy beats little Jimmy because he's upset that he has no money and such a crappy life. The kids end up in foster homes because the parent's can't feed them.

I think you're missing the point here... you are criticizing someone you don't even know and dismissing the possibility the woman has different values which dictate her common sense (like perhaps that having a large legacy would be satisfying or that say misfortune befalls her family... if she loves her kids, perhaps she wouldn't mind working 2 jobs to feed and clothe them, for example) and would make it differ from your scope of common sense. However, those differences don't make them any less valid.

explain how what you said has anything whatsoever to do the the CRUX of the story that some idiot shot these people AFTER he had taken their money.

Perhaps. I still think its fairly irresponsible, and selfish. I believe I heard something a while back about laws in China about how many children you can have and such. I'd hate to see that sort of thing placed on people. But if people keep having six or more kids 'just because', then that may very well happen some day.

The world isn't an endless supply of resources, it's selfish to take more than you need. My personal opinion is that four kids is the upper limit of what's reasonable. You may disagree with me, but that's your opinion and your right. It's not like most families these days need 12 kids to help them plow the fields or something, and we're not losing millions to any wars. There's no justifyable reason IMO to attempt to expand the population so much.

How many kids these people had is totally irrelevant to this thread. The fact of the matter is that this woman and her child were slaughtered for absolutely no good reason.

I never said that. You should try reading what I say before you begin calling me names. I said that it's sad it happened, and that I feel sorry for her husband and children. I also stated my opinion that six children is irresposible.

I'm not exactly going around saying 'YEA! I'm glad he shot her! Stupid people who go around having so many kids deserve to be shot!' or something.

If you want to discuss the merits of how many children someone should have, START YOUR OWN THREAD. this is regarding a TRAGIC incident and your comments have NO bearing on that incident WHATSOEVER.
