WOAH! Look at this graph! We're back to 30mbps out!

Take a look at this graph! We're back up to 30mbps, it all changed about 5hrs ago 🙂
Edit: NOW UP TO 30 again 😀 Lets hope it stays this way!

Maybe they took my suggestion before i posted it! 😉

Maybe they actually figured out the "mysterious" cause of the bandwidth spike on the campus network...

Let's just hope it stays this way!

I knew it 😛 they must have "forgotten"

to switch the priority at night:Q

Yes, hopefully happy days have fallen once again on the Seti Nation.

Does seem a little odd that it happened right around midnight. If you look at the daily/weekly graphs, it looks like this happens fairly frequently, though. Hope it keeps up!!

yep...getting a few to squeek thru on my dial-up and it looks like my home queue is slowly sending, too. I'm up 15 WUs since about 30 min. ago.

If they can continue to give us 30MB/s for 6 hours each night, things will clear up a little. Let's keep our fingers crossed.

Man, good thing I stocked up on some WU's last week. I may have enough for my 3 machines to crunch for the next 2 days. I hope! Heck, if things dont clear up I will be at 500 but seti will only have under 300 of mine.

Why the heck can't they figure out what's causing the much larger bandwidth usage? A university the size of Berkeley should easily be able to graph bandwidth usage by IP and figure out what the problem is. :|

Unfortunately, my Q is still unable to flush all of the completed workunits.

I just reset it to download some workunits and my Q is unable to fetch any. Hopefully, later tonight it can download some.🙁

Looking at how SetiQueue seems to run, is there a way to get it to just attempt downloading WUs over and over for a few min?

It seems to get one and then pause for 10 min (the minimum delay time I have set). If I have a connection, it seems like it should try and fill the queue.

SPEAKING of which. I have it set to a minimum of 7-day queue size and I have 8 PCs hooked up to it. How does it figure out how many to eventually store? # of clients * avg. WU/client/day?

I have actually gotten a few WUs :Q But they look like they are being downloaded from a 14k modem. 🙁

How often does the graph mentioned in the leadoff post get updated? Is there a realtime way to monitor the same stuff?

That pause is the work unit gap which you can change. It is set up so you don't download 10 VLARs in a row:Q And to figure out how many units to store it looks at your daily average output from all your PCs that are running through the Queue. 😉

Word now seems to be that at night for a few days we were toping off at about 20Mbps and now there has been a minor glitch fixed that should get us back up to the 36Mbps that we were getting before this major clogging. Of course this is still really restricted bandwidth and during day it will be as bad as ever but queues should slowly start to unclog as more and mroe get caught up.

This is just what I have gathered from monitoring things from all over (but mostly here).

This is what they need

Layer 4-7 Wirespeed Application Switching (Can you say no more problems with Kazaa and Morpheus)

I was able to get around 75 for my Q during the night, last night. I can finally breathe easier for a while 😎

Have a look at the bandwidth graph for last night...it was up to 40 for a short time. Already headed down though, but hopefully the Q's are clearing up.

Thanks, Tarca.

I'll look into the gap setting and make sure it's not too short, not too long 🙂

And when I left home this morning, I had 92 WUs in my queue so I guess I'm safe for a couple of days at least. I did get the new dual XP1800+ crunching before I left! 😀
