Woah, AMD came through.

Well, I'm sure many of you might have seen my thread about my system that wouldn't post. After spending money on having a computer store troubleshoot my computer, It was finally determined that my problem was my CPU. It was bad. So I spend yet more money to send the CPU back to AMD. I finally got word back from them today that the CPU was bad, and were gonna replace my bad opteron 165 with a opteron 175!!!

Although I'm not sure it was worth the headache...a nice upgrade definitely makes my situation a bit more positive. 🙂

good job AMD.

I completely agree. It's been 3 weeks since I initially had my computer delivered. Since I work 8-6 every day, it is very difficult to ship and receive items. Also, the continuous waiting for things to ship and then to ship things out plus the cost of shipping a unit back. Plus the cost of troubleshooting the CPU since I don't have the equipment to swap parts and find out the root cause. All these things have made this experience negative. Can't cry over spilt milk...but I think next time I will be going through a local computer store for the cpu and motherboard at least. I'll pay the extra 50-100 dollars knowing that if one of these main components goes bad...I can simply go to the store and return it.

Not speaking bad of newegg either. They offer a great service, but if a CPU is bad...you are on your own. Lesson learned.
