I'll start watching baseball again as soon as all teams play on a level playing field. In other words, the Yankees don't get to have 5x the payroll of some other teams. It's like playing monopoly where one person starts with 10 times as much cash as the others. Maybe it could be simpler, they could change the rules so the team with the most money is allowed to have 10 fielders instead of 9 to really make sure the Yankees, Red Sox, Braves etc will be in the series every year.....

The Yankees are what is WRONG with baseball.

Yeah, turning it into the WWF is just fine, right? Amazing how blinded people get by their jealous hatred :|

I'm from Alabama you moron. I don't particularly care for Boston either, but they are just following the Yankee's footsteps. If Selig had any sense he'd ban every member of the Yankees from baseball for life. :|

I dont think he ever said you were from boston, moron

Why would I be jealous of the Yankees then? His whole argument was predicated on the fact that I was a Sox fan, moron. :|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|

His argument is predicated on the fact that you're jealous of the yankees.

And why would I be? So because I dislike them I'm jealous? Because I don't like criminals who are destroying a sport I'm jealous? FU!!!!!!!!! :|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|

The Braves don't have that high of a payroll...

Actually a lot of people, regardless of where their loyalties lie, don't like whoever's on top. It's evident in politics with the way most of Europe feels about the US and it's evident in baseball as well. But if it suits you, continue assuming I insinuated that you were a sox fan. Either way, I'll certainly continue to assume that you're no older than 15, as "u moron" got old when I was in high school and I doubt it's any different where you come from.

I'll be the first one to agree with a salary cap. The Yankees are playing by the rules though, you can't blame them for trying to do the best they can do within the rules handed to them. Was the Bulls' monopoly on basketball or the Cowboys' on football ok simply because of payroll? come off it.

Not having a salary cap does little to sully the game in comparison to stuff like this, which boston without fail tries to start. Most times the yanks let it slide, as they're bigger than that, but everyone's got a breaking point and even all-time great pacifists like Ghandi or Dr. ML King would eventually get fed up of boston's sh*t and hit back. If you actually watched most games between these two teams, you'd see that you have no argument. There's no interpretation involved; boston *does* bean someone without provocation in virtually every game the two teams play, or at least do something else equally vile.

If you really want baseball to be fixed, either have the Players Union agree to non-guaranteed contracts or a salary cap. Both they will never do.

Likewise goes for the owners to agree to a minimum payroll, but fat chance in hell that would happen either.

So right now with spending unchecked the Yankees are born. Baseball has no one to blame but themselves.

Gurck, why should I waste my time on someone who has so many preconceived notions, and who doesn't realize I'm yanking their chain? Like I said, I wish I was as myopic as you, because then I wouldn't have to deal with the real argument. The Yankees care more about winning than the spirit of the game, the game itself, or their fellow players. They are the epitome of selfish asshole sport players. You may NOT have a problem with it because you are a Yankees fan, but many of us cheer for BASEBALL and not just one team. I used to watch every baseball game that was on TV. Now I rarely even bother watching a single game. I think I've seen half of a few games this year compared to 5 years ago when I watched very game I could. Even 5 years ago it was fairly bad, but now it isn't worth watching.

Gah, I was playing Far Cry :p What happened? ie. which Sux pitcher beaned which Yankees hitter with no provocation to start it?

Arroyo plunked arod. Then as A-rod was walking to first him and varitek starting talking. A-rod said "Fvck you" twice, and varitek punched A-rod in the face. Then all hell broke loose.

No, ARod said FCK YOU three times. Then he said to Varitek "Come on" and stepped to him... of course Varitek is going to drop the bitch!

Also funny how pu$$y the NYY pitcher is, he didn't bean anyone the next inning after getting his ass kicked and ear bleeding everywhere. He tried to choke Kapler from behind (who is half his size) and then got rocked when Ortiz and another unidentified guy came over and slammed him to the ground, then Kapler popped him while he sprawled out on the ground... very entertaining to say the least.

Dude. You're confused. Shouldn't you be in summer school now?
Yes, I am confused about your superiority complex and how a peon such as yourself thinks you are better than everyone?
Shouldn't you be tailgating people in the left lane and high beaming them, and yelling f you X3 like ARod just did? You've lost all credibility after getting uttely PWNED in that thread, we know what your intelligence level is comprised of: that of an ebola ridden monkey on her last leg.

the real argument
I'm sure you noticed the thread title?

*weeds through the rest of your reply, dodging insults*

I can understand where you're coming from, but I think you're very jaded, far more than is necessary. Derek and Bernie wouldn't play for any other team. Two loyal, lifetime players is about all you can hope for in this day & age, and it's more than a lot of teams have. Again, I'm all for a salary cap. The reason I don't think we'll see one is that a superstar team like the Yankees is good for the game financially. It's no longer America's pastime, if you hadn't noticed - football and basketball have surpassed it. I blame laws & product labels protecting and encouraging stupid people and television for promoting, if not ADD/ADHD itself, thinking that resembles it. Baseball, much like reading, is "2 borng" for most people to "sit thru 2 watch" in this day & age, they need constant action to hold their dimwitted attention. Scapegoating the Yankees for the problems facing baseball, in large part due to society, is wrong.

and who doesn't realize I'm yanking their chain?
I'm not the one flying off the handle ;)

Omg, I drive fast - therefore Yankees are a bad baseball team. Thanks for proving my point.

Down with Yankees. Implement the salary cap now. P.S. I'm not a Red Sox fan.
