WMV HD Hollywood Movies? When will they be released?

Does anyone know when, if ever, full-length Hollywood movies will be released on WMV HD? Microsoft's WMV HD Content Showcase web site has promos for Friday Night Lights, Meet the Fockers, Alexander, etc. as well as IMAX movies. I know that Matrix 2 & 3, Spiderman 2, and Harry Potter 3 were all digitally remastered in IMAX format. Will any of these movies every be released on WMV HD?

How would you even fit those on a DVD? :|

unfortunately, they fit it to a DVD by lowering the resolution 🙁

I bought the T2 Extreme Edition, and the resolution of the WMV HD movie was only 9xx by 5xx, nowhere close to 1080p. I was really dissapointed because one of the reasons i got it was for the 1080p. It's still better than DVD, but its annoying that its not 1080p, esp b/c they say a 1600X1200 or 1920X1080 monitor is recommended for the WMV HD on the box.

T2 Extreme Edition is 1440x816

I have Shrek2 in WMVHD. You could dispute it not being a real WMVHD, but it's sure as clear as one. I have the 1080p WMVHD playing on my 2048x1536 monitor, and the thing is PHOTO sharp. No grain or video artifacts whatsoever.

Standing in the Shadows of Motown as done at a stream rate of 8000 something. I think it is 720p. I do not know a comparison number of 25mps MPEG vs WMV-HD. IIRC, 720p should be around 19mps, BUT that may NOT be true (the first cup of coffee has not yet kicked in).

Broadcast HD is ~15-20Mbps (though it can be lower; some channels/shows are compressed more). However, you can't directly compare bitrates between different compression/encoding formats. WMVHD (which uses VC-9 video compression) is significantly more space-efficient than MPEG2, so at the 'same' bitrate, WMVHD will look better.

I record from HDNET and HDHBO and its roughly 2mbps. The quality is phenominal.

Which cable/satellite company do you use and which DVR to record HD? I can't get over the air signals where I live so I've been looking for some cable/satellite companies that offer HD. The real pisser is that due to contractual agreements, I can't get half of the local stations - yet. I'd like to get ABCHD, NBCHD, CBSHD, UPNHD, and WBHD.

Are you sure? It does not seem logical to convert 35mm (24fps) to PAL (25fps). They telecined it to AVI it appears from the DV article I read. I did a search and found the original, but you need to be registered with the site.

DV.com Registration Required

I also did this and then use the MS WMV Enconder to encode it to WMV.

Why bother buy it????
