WMP11 problems

Well, it's usually "User Error" 99% of the time, right? 😱 It WAS finding my files; it was just sticking half of them under "Unknown artist" b/c my files don't all have the same naming convention. I need to fix that, I guess.

I recently rebuilt by system using a slipstreamed copy of WinXP SP2 and WMP11.

No blue screens or popups or anything like that.

But, when I search for files, WMP does it's thing and says complete. BUT, it won't add certain folders (music) that are in the same root directory as the rest of the stuff. 😕

I can browse to the folder thru Windows Explorer and click/play the song fine, but WMP wont' see on a "F3 Search for Media" search. How do I fix this?

Also, for ripping CDs to MP3, the option for 320KBs is gone. What's up w/that? :| Can I fix that? Reg hack?

Bump. Help, anyone?

This is NUTS. I deleted my entire library and re-added from backup. Searched the library again. Same thing. 😕 I uninstalled WMP, reinstalled. Same thing.

The files are not hidden, they are 320KB/s MP3s like all the other files. I dont' get this at all.

It's got to have something to do with slipstreaming WMP11 into my CD I used Boooggy's slipstreamer I had WMP11 on my previous setup (loaded the traditional way) and it worked fine.

Reloading WMP fixed the 256KB/s limitation when ripping to MP3s; I now have the option again for 320KB/s. But the missing files problem is still there.

*edit*

Some poking around Microsoft's site found this; it looks like it might work. I deleted the files it said to delete (note on that page that it says "delete these files" then it says "You don't need to delete these files"?) typical MS. 😕

Anyway, upon restarting WMP it commenced to search for files all on it's own; albiet REALLY SLOOOOOOWLY. I'm letting it do it's thing and we'll see what happens.

*another edit*

Nope, that didn't work either. This is the most ridiculous problem ever.
