WMP11 - better than WMP10? Worth upgrading? Any negatives?

I've been using WMP10 for all my digital audio and video needs for a long time, very happy with it.

I see that WMP11's been out for awhile...is it better than 10? Any problems with it? Any ways it's lots better than 10?

Will Visualizations from WMP10 work with 11? I have quite a few that I have DL'd over the years and really like.

Opinions welcome; thanks!

I upgraded to ver 11---and see little improvement---but maybe its just me and some damn unknown problem with my on board realtec audio chip---but every time I load windows media player11 I get some winmediaplayer11 pop up offering me my opportunity to synch other devices---and since I have no desire to sych other devices---I just wish the damn synch thing would go away and stay away.---don't call me---I will call you when and if I need something to synch with my computer.

That and the requirement to load some big 20+ MB file to enable ugue--a song buying applet required to get the public domain streaming radio feature enabled.---and hell will freeze over before I pay microsoft a dime to download a song.

My spelling may be off on a few things---I am now posting on another computer that is not upgraded to winmedia player 11.

What I like about WMP 11 is the new skin and UI. But WMP 10 was less buggy. WMP 11 is missing the water visualization.

The only thing I do is watch movies with WMP. Itunes for music.

I like wmp11 but I hate when I add albums to my library it puts files in the directory the mp3's for the album is stored. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

That's the only reason I don't use it.

Um... the only files that it puts IIRC is the album art, which doesn't even show up if you have hide system files or do not show hidden files.

I have WMP11 on 2 computers - and it is excellent. However, I cannot use it on this computer because of SoundMAX as mi MIDI generator. WMP11 has a problem with it - will not let me embed background MIDI files in OE email. It does all the stuff - but it simply does not work.

So, I keep WMP10 here - and really - there's not a big difference between them the way I use it.

WMP11 is not so good with videos I tried to move seek slider and it doesn't work. WMP10 does fine. I can't even find anything on the option/setting. 🙁

I never used wmp10 for anything, but I use 11 for most videos and syncing mp3 players. It's a huge improvement in every aspect.

Well, as I found out the other day, to install WMP11, you must do that Genuine Advantage spyware BS. I don't think so. *finger* I've read up on GA and it is indeed spyware. It phones home twice per month now (used to be weekly!) to report your system configuration, user names, product keys and who knows what else!

*sigh* MS really continues to make life difficult for the people that support their company by purchasing their products.

While I love the new WMP11, the colour scheme is really Vista centric. So if you're running XP with the standard blue Luna theme, it looks out of place.

But I'm just nit picking...
