I own their limited edition CD+DVD of The Heart of Everything and all their other albums. Great band though I like their newer stuff more than their older works. I think they're pretty well known on these forums.

I love how americans are completely clueless about European bands ^^ The european metal scene is huge anyway and has 90% of the best bands

WT and Nightwish dont have much in common other than the fact both are lead by female singers, thats it... WT leans alot more towards gothic metal, while Nightwish is pure power metal

Also, the older WT stuff is much better, specially the album "Mother Earth", then they started going commercial and now they are average at best (thats why they got popular in america...)

You cant. Totally different styles. Both i am huge fans of. But Tarja era Nightwish is unmatchable.

But Ice Queen is probably their biggest song.

What Have You Done got some airplay and it was doing good but then they just stopped promoting it. They have only ever toured the states once.

As stated, I own all the albums including Mother Earth. The difference is that they transitioned from a gothic metal band (IMO) to a symphonic rock (or metal) band. That's personal taste that you think their old gothic sound was better than their newer symphony influenced sounds. I much prefer the symphonic sound. Again, that's personal taste as is yours. To say anything otherwise shows your biased stupidity and your silly need to bash something simply because its popular.

Too new age for my taste, but a really talented band. So far my favorite female led metal band is still Lacuna Coil.

+1 Too bad she is a bitch and they parted ways :(

That said I think most people who like Nightwish will like Within Temptation. I know they are different styles but - to me at least - they seem to go hand in hand

Comes in on the hard rock station on Sirius once in a while. That's why I love satellite radio, get new music I wouldn't otherwise get.
