With winamp on the fall........

Switched over to FOOBAR since I am a big fan of music and mp3s. Seems like a good player. Not updated a lot though, and the look is kind of basic, but I guess it does the job.............

Um, I think you might want to change the summary from "audiophiliac" to "audiophile" 😉

I still like the latest version of winamp but iTunes shoved itself down my throat :| when I got my iPod so it's kinda hard to use anything else. I ought to check out foobar some time though.

I know you guys are gonna rake me over the coals for this one, but I just use WMP 10 to listen to my MP3s.

i used to use winamp....like 3 years ago.

Really, WMP is ok. It's nothing special, but it works just fine...Library/Burning works well. I havent reall bothered to look for special plugins but i'm sure there are many available.

I've used Winamp v < 3.0 for as long as I can remember without issue, so I don't see anything changing for me just cause AOL pulled the plug on Nullsoft. 🙂 It does everything I need it to do well, and has a low footprint and memory usage. So something simple and sleek and better would have to come out for me to change!

used to use Foobar - it's meant for quality, not GUI tho 🙂

currently using iTunes.

You seriously switched MP3 players because AOL discontinued WinAMP? You realize the program still runs, right? No reason to switch if it still meets your needs.

Mugs, I think it's a legit question...no new features for Winamp isn't good news - yes, it still works, but taking away the "What is going to be in the next version" factor is a bit of a downer for me.....

Still using Winamp. Winamp 5 now, actually and it works great for me. I just make sure to install it using the "classic" skin and it's more stable for me than Winamp 2.xx .

Not giving up Winamp any time soon, I doubt I'd be able to get the plugins I like elsewhere for some other player and don't really feel like looking.

Yeah, but why switch now if you were using Winamp before and nothing newer and better has come out in the last few days? And really, how many advances are there in audio players these days? They play music, that's what they're supposed to do. I'm fine with Winamp 2.x. I don't care about visualizations or skins, and I'd rather not use winamp as a video player.

why would you switch if it's still around ? I can see people switching if something new like Longhorn doesn't support it... just cause there will be no new development efforts doesn't mean you should stop using it.

What more features do you want?
It has a nice GUI, excellent handling of playlists, and it plays most any format I could imagine one wanting.

Unless I find something better, I'm sticking with Winamp, I don't like Foobar, and WMP sucks a big fat one for listening to music.

I might give QCD a try though.
