Are they labeled "Craftsman?" I checked out their site, and it says DANAHER as the manufacturer of the so called "Craftsman" parts.

Also, you said many other stores. You named one that may not be even selling the Crafstman name, just the OEM version of it. Please continue.

Exactly...Craftsman doesn't let anyone resell....the fastenal partnership allows competition with the 'tool trucks'

Bought a set at Western Auto...

Western Auto was a subsidiary of Sears and merged with Advance in 1998. I believe Sears holds 40% of Advance Auto Parts.

Wow...

I had no idea that Kroger buying Fred Meyer was the largest retail merger in history by dollar value.

You asked for one store, I gave you one store. Somebody also said Advanced sells them, but I don't know. The point is, they are sold outside of Sears. Danaher manufactures alot of Craftsman's tools. I've been in one of their factories in NC and they brand for craftsman, as well as a few other brand names that I wasn't familiar with.

Most Kmarts are turning into Sears Essentials in Michigan. I believe we are a test market, though. I think they are just trying to get rid of the Kmart name since it carries a negative connotation.

That's correct that we in Michigan are the test market. Not all Kmarts will be converted, however, there are several different test stores here in Michigan, like the Troy, Waterford, Brighton, Livonia, and White Lake stores. I'm partially against the Sears H/E stores for personal reasons. FWIW, Kroger, our local supermarket store, sells Craftsman tools.

hmm, i like craftsman shovels. we use one at work to clean the tracks of the backhoes. we have run over many of them. we walk into sears hardware, hand them our shovel, go find a new one, walk out with new one, no money exchanged.

As an employee of K-mart, (weep for me...), I can tell you....absolultely nothing about the situtation. As far as I know, they aren't closing my store, and its not going to be a sears. Meh. I'm going to quit come october anyways.
